The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

I fell love Alley Sheedy in this film. I like her in Breakfast Club, but when I saw this, I wanted her to be my girl. Yeah I know... dream on. I wanted her for more than pleasure, I fell in love with the reformed "Rich Girl" she became. I don't know Alley, but I can believe she is more like Jessie after she reforms than before when she acted spoiled. Why? She didn't seem natural at being a spoiled brat.I however warn parents that have a nudity phobia when pertaining to kids. In one scene she goes skinny-dipping. Nothing can be seen while she is in the water, but when Nick refuses to return her clothes, she says fine jumps out of the pool and heads for her bedroom sans clothing. This scene shows her walking away nude, but only from behind, No frontal nudity in the scene, basically not much more that what a bikini covers except for the small portion of derrière the triangle of cloth a bikini provides. No biggie for most people, but some people do not like surprises.I on the other hand congratulate her for being able to do that scene. For some nudity if all but impossible because of self doubt or because society has made such a big deal over the human body, yet not a gratuitous sex scene. Though I have not clue why they showed her back side at all, she could have been show shoulder up getting out of the pool, then used bushed as she runs from the pool to hide her nudity. That said, I liked seeing that state of undress, she is beautiful.

1st things 1st... anybody have the soundtrack listing for this movie?? Totally loved the song sung at the big bash. something about 'i can still shine'.... now the movie.. Kinda like a reverse Cinderella story.. ally sheedy plays a rich, spoiled heiress(jessie) with a penchant for getting into trouble and getting away with it. Beverly D'Angelo plays her her crazy Fairy Godmother. Tom skerritt plays the exasperated but loving parent. Totally loved the scene in the billiards room, where Stella tells 'jessie' - 'a job well done is a job worth done' Love the airhead employers. Contains no questionable scenes, so rather nice watching for the family on a lazy weekend.

This was a delightful light romance comedy with Merry Clayton's beautiful voice as a strong point. I am always happy to see it when it is played on TV. It is always good to see a clean, well put together movie that is without violence. Just good old fashioned light entertainment.

Jessie Montgomery (Ally Sheedy) is the spoiled only child of Charles Montgomery (Tom Skerrit), the chairman of Starlight Foundation. Jessie loves partying all night. She does nothing but seeking pleasure. One night she is busted by a cop for speed-driving and using drugs. When Mr. Montgomery is notified regarding this incident, he can't help feeling so disappointed and frustrated, and he says he wishes he never had this daughter.Jessie's fairy godmother (Beverly D'Angelo) appears, erases Jessie's criminal record, taking her out of the police station and tells Jessie that her past has also been erased. Now she's on her own. Her friends don't know her any more. Her father doesn't know her any more. After wandering on streets for days, she has to get a job. One thing she would have never done in the past.Working as a maid at a trendy house in Beverly Hills, Jessie learns how to do housework and how to treat people in a better way. Finally, she becomes unselfish and compassionate.Overall, it's pleasant to watch this movie.
