This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

David Dhawan is one of those directors who provides masala entertainers in his style and after his early films which didn't work, his comedy brought him several hits though a few craps. David Dhawan is known for copying films from Hollywood and this statement is true. But so what, even Abbas Mustan copies films and they seem to click at the box office. Anyways, this film isn't that bad but the problem is it get's too silly at parts which is a big headache. Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya was somewhat similar to this but this is far better than that though that has less silly ingredients but all these films are far better than Rascals David Dhawan's latest which was a cheap erotic comedy. Coming to this film, it is about Prem(Salman Khan) who's profession is bringing lovers together and he is called the love guru. But, he is at first reluctant to help Bhaskar(Govinda) patched up with the girl of his dream the multi millionaire's daughter Priya(Katrina Kaif) but later agrees to help him. The rest of the film is about how Prem gets Bhaskar and Priya together and how he gets his love Naina(Lara Dutta) also. The film is good and provides several laughs. But some portions like the baby missile thing was absolutely silly, the airport scenes were average but the rest seemed to be funny. The Sweety Se Pyaar movie they were watching in the hall where the guy imitates Aamir Khan is damn funny. The ending is a bit prolonged and the honeymoon thing is sort of overdone. But, the film on the whole is actually not as bad as everyone says. Salman Khan plays the same character he has played a million times and his acting is actually average he is good when he's delivering dialogues but his emotional scenes need working just like Sunil Shetty but he's not that bad. Lara Dutta is OK, she was better in Challo Dilli. Katrina Kaif is pretty but she is better in her films nowadays and not back then in 2007 when she was sort of still a newcomer. The rest provide good support and fill the bill. The songs are good but Soni De Nakhare is hilarious, Govinda doesn't know how to dance does he LOL. Overall, not a bad film it was a super hit and it is a full entertainer people will enjoy this even though it's silly.

I just don't see how another commentator could not enjoy this movie.I saw all five of the music numbers on music compilation DVD's and they were stupendous. So when I joined Netflix, Partner was the first movie and second title (the first was Swingtown) that I ordered. The movie was a hearty and up beat comedy. Like I said in the summary a combination romantic comedy and buddy movie. The characters were all very likable, I had no trouble enjoying the writing, the plot was great and even had a few unexpected twists. And of course the all important music and dance numbers were well spaced and dynamite. All of the acting performances were excellent but Our Man Sal Man, Govinda and Ali Haj as the little boy, Rohan, stood out.Since so many people were so down on this movie and comparing it most unfavorably with Hitch - I decided to see Hitch over the weekend. I had only viewed one Bollywood remake and Hollywood original, and that was Chhodon Naa Yaar after Blair Witch Project - and I thought both were stupid. So I decided to see Hitch after PArtner to see what all of the hoopla was about. Actually I really liked both. It is no secret that Bollywood films, shall we say, heavily borrow, from Hollywood films so when one does, why complain. I see no reason to put down one or the other, both were very good and both have their place. Why not enjoy both of them.As has been pointed out, several scenes from Partner were directly copied from Hitch. The front of Priya's father's house is an exact copy of Allegra Cole's. I had a lot of fun looking for and watching the duplications. I also liked the way a plot element was borrowed by Partner, but given a different twist. At he same time the movies had a lot of plot differences. I still have to say I like Partner just a little bit better. BUT that does not count the five - seven if you count opening and ending credits - gang-buster, show-stopping musical numbers in PartnerIt might not be the greatest movie ever made, but it does not claim to be. I thoroughly enjoyed it and do not need to see Hitch!!

Honestly, I have to admit that I go and see certain stupid films based on the hype they have generated or are currently generating. This dumb Salman Khan & Govinda feature is one of those stupid films. Okay, by now we've all seen 'Hitch' starring Will Smith as a date doctor trying to help out odd people find true. Then why would we need to see Salman Khan re-enact this? Therein lies the $64,000 question. In case you were wondering, Govinda plays the oddball in search of the love of his life (an unreachable socialite) played by Katrina Kaif.Lara Dutta is along to play Sallu's Eva Mendes, and Sallu's real-life love Kaif pretty much plays her character like every role you've see her in thus far, no stretch no acting required. And for nearly three and a half hours we get tortured with spoofs of other Bollywood films and characters or better yet we get treated to low rate performances of past hit films. Rajpal Yadav co-stars. F

Its great to see two of the biggest stars in a comedy together. They both are wonderful actors and superb in performance. However for me personally I could not appreciate this film as we have known Govinda through all his films as a person who can get his girl easily. For this reason it was difficult to appreciate that Govinda would need advice even if it from the King of Bollywood Salman Khan.I have not seen Hitch, which apparently this is a blatant rip off from but from the cat in that movie I feel it probably had the same flaw.Im not a fan of Katrina kaif so I'm glad she was pretty easy and the hard gal was the gorgeous Lara.this film needed more jokes and this should have been implemented when the main tow stars got together.Chota don or Rajpal Yadav is a good actor but his character was over the top and made you just want to turn away at points and laugh at the similarity of him and ShahRukh Khan, whom recently produced a rubbish remake of Don.
