It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Beautiful film- not 100% sure why US drs would not identify son as autistic or Asperger's Syndrome rather than atypical- but otherwise perfect portrayal of the bizarre world of parenthood/motherhood post birth.

The movie continually reminds Tully's otherworldly nature, all the time. No one else ever sees Tully, but then, in Tully's final act, things start to get weirder and weirder. Much of what does work is owed to Theron and Davis's stunning performances. Theron, in particular, is simply impressive, physically and acting wise also; as Tully enters her life and begins to help her out, Theron communicates the relief effortlessly. Davis, who long ago demonstrated her versatility in other projects (such as Halt, Catch Fire, Black Mirror and Always Shine) threads the needle on a character that should either be infuriating or preposterous (or both!), making Tully enchanting and mysterious. Overall the story works properly.

The movie is OK but could've been better if it wasn't just saying how terrible her life is because his husband is a jerk that doesn't help her at all, with the house nor the kids. Maternity is hard and a challenge by it self. Several situations on this movie are true with a supporting husband too, there was no need to add a dumb husband spouse to it.

TullyThe best thing about having a nanny is they get all the flak from the mommy shamers at the playground.Mind you, the mommy in this dramedy would just be happy with some shuteye.A middle-age mother of two, Marlo (Charlize Theron), is straddled with an unplanned pregnancy and an inattentive husband (Ron Livingston). Unable to cope with the lack of sleep, Marlo hires a young night nanny, Tully (Mackenzie Davis), to tend to her babe while she rests. Auspiciously, Marlo and Tully share similar viewpoints which help Marlo get through her post-partum slump. But Tully is not exactly who she seems.Saved by an out of left field third act, this honest but sluggish portrayal of modern motherhood and marriage has its merits beyond the strong acting and twist-ending, but they're mostly all depressing. And, as with every nanny, you'll eventually have to fight them for your child's love.
