Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Workhorse director Harry Levin, alas, proves to be no substitute for Phil Karlson who megaphoned the first of the Matt Helm series, The Silencers. Alas, even more to the point, the lovely Ann-Margret comes across most disappointingly as a rather pallid substitute for super-sexy Stella Stevens. Judging by what they provide here, both Miss Ann-Margret and Mr. Levin can aptly be described as "colorless". Another setback for this sequel is that the over-publicized "Slay Girls" actually appear on-screen only momentarily. However, on the plus side, the film does boast the alluring presence of Camilla Sparv. The action scenes are also quite exciting. In addition, the color photography could justly be described as "pleasant", and there's no doubt that Dean Martin makes a most genial companion. Available on a Sony DVD.

MURDERER'S ROW is the second Matt Helm movie and just as sloppy and ill-conceived as THE SILENCERS. It's also just about as much fun. Dean Martin, clearly not sticking to any script, has a few funny one-liners and Ann-Margret is Ann-Margret...as a swinging sixties sex kitten, she's second to none. Karl Malden collects a paycheck as the villain and the stunning Camilla Sparv plays his moll. There are a few amusing scenes such as Dean in a line-up with two French peasants and the women's outfits are very Rudi Gernreich without actually being designed by Gernreich. The film, directed by Henry Levin, could just as easily have been named "LONG SHOTS and STUNT MEN" when you consider how few close-ups Martin has during the action sequences.

There's just one main reason to see this film.....ANN-MARGRET'S FABULOUSLY FANTASTIC dancing, and her flashy swingin 60's costumes! Other then that, It's your typical Matt Helm film. Lots of confusing action..Matt gets the girl.. E.T.C. But it definitely showcases A-M as the ultimate triple threat that she is! LUV A-M, she's the greatest! Def. for A-M and Dean Martin fans

Ann-Margaret dances. Dean Martin drinks. Dean Martin drives. Ann-Margaret dances. Dean Martin drinks. Dean Martin drives. Dean Martin lets loose with poorly thought out quips relating to the female anatomy. Ann-Margaret and Dean Martin encounter Bad Guys and Gal in haphazard fashion. Dean Martin engages in poorly choreographed fighting scenes. Dean Martin is placed in death trap for which we are given no explanation for how the device is supposed to kill him (when WILL that explosive device detonate. Is it on a timer or will the milk-shake machine set it off when it reaches a certain velocity?). It takes about an hour and ten minutes before anything REALLY happens and by then it's too late and too pathetically executed by the crew hired to make this film.I would say that this is among the worst movies that I have ever seen but that would infer that this IS a movie. It's NOT a movie. It is a collage of filmed sequences editted together to cash in on it's superb predecessor, The Silencers. A plot, oh yes, there is a plot; But no vehicle upon which to expand that plot into an actual movie.Columbia Pictures has done the public a favor by packaging the two best Matt Helm films (The Silencers and The Wrecking Crew) in one package and the worst (Murderer's Row) with the somewhat mediocre The Ambushers.
