if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

It's hard to write a decent review for this movie as it's so slow and hardly anything interesting happens in there. It is basically about a man named Leon who returns to the house of his deceased mother and is walking around there looking for memories of his past and his mother. We don't get to see any other actor but him in the flesh. There is no other location but the house, he does leave it once I believe to run rapidly inside again when he sees some kind of monster. However that looks to be some kind of hallucination so there is never any real danger. The other actors we only hear the voice or when he watches some kind of tape. Hearing the voice of his mother trying to get in touch with her son, it was interesting but there didn't seem to be a goal, a conclusion and hardly any story. The only thing it had going was its nice visuals and setting with a few interesting special effects. I don't really give low scores often but this one really felt empty to me.

First of all, this is not the classic Horror / Thriller movie one might expect. Its has very few 'Scary/Jump Scare' scenes, but after a while you get into the movies atmosphere , a very dark and unpleasant one , and that is what makes it so enjoyable. The story itself is nothing too exciting just filled with a lot of religious images, but its not the story that makes this movie good. Its more like reading a 'scary' book than watching a movie ( :p if that makes any sense)But anyway, if someone wants something less 'Jump scary', but more moody and creepy its really worth checking out!

There's nothing wrong with a story that starts out slowly with nothing happening yet. But half an hour into the movie you get the feeling that it isn't getting better at all and you're right: we our stuck with one actor in one specific location for the entire duration of this so called "ghost story". That kind of stretches it because it's slow and boring as hell without any thrills or scares. The credits show Vanessa Redgrave as second name but we only hear her voice. Another female character is only heard during phone conversations and when our main character (unknown actor, not bad but not great either and certainly not worth watching every minute) opens the door for a neighbor, (Yes ! Finally another cast member !!) we do not even get to see him. The special effects are kind of limited: we have a Holy Maria statue that opens her eyes and a very poorly executed CGI black wolf that's not scary or convincing and has no purpose at all. Watching this wretched tale end is even more disappointing, because there's no real ending. No thrills, no surprises, no closure, it just kind of stops. And when the credits finally role, you can't help wondering why cheap crap like this is still made. Who's the target audience ? I'm sure the creators weren't aware either, they were just cashing in on the hype of supernatural ghost/horror movies.

The movie in one and a half lines: A guy moves to his recently passed away mother. Totally random, no sense and useless things happen. The end.Don't try to act like a movie expert that feels the art of this piece and is capable of understanding a hundred of ideas passed by the it... Just accept: this movie sucks more than everything.I don't need bloody, scary movies, what I need is movies that express something interesting. And what this one expresses is boring as... There is no word for this.My advice: don't waste your time watching this. The trailers look really good (the movie actually has some good elements), but it evolves to nothing and boringness.
