The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

Well, I for one, quite enjoyed this movie. It was an unexpected pleasure. I didn't go in with high hopes and was pleasantly surprised.I think that what I enjoyed most about it was the fact that it wasn't full of Hollywood schlock. There were some intense scenes that I never would expect to see in a big-budget Hollywood film. I say kudos for straying beyond the norm in this regard.I've seen quite a few reviews that complain about the non-linear storytelling and use of flashbacks. I'm not sure what the big deal is. Lots of movies do this. It wasn't too difficult to understand what was happening. As for the ambiguous ending, I'm completely okay with it. It seems like some of those people that complain about open-ended endings and non-linear storytelling insist on having their entertainment spoon-fed to them. Personally, I like that I was made to think a bit about what might have been.I'm kind of hoping for a sequel; Killing Ground II: The Adventures of Ollie and Banjo. This one, of course, would be a family film about a toddler and a dog who travel around solving mysteries.

KILLING GROUND is another nasty, realistic, grubby little horror film from Australia in which the horror comes from man rather than a mythical creation. I don't know, after watching the likes of the WOLF CREEK films, this, and SNOWTOWN, you'd never want to visit the country! The story is about a couple of hikers who stumble upon a crime scene and are soon pursued by some very unpleasant characters. It's an obviously low budget story that suffers a little from some confused narrative touches (the mingling of past and present storylines early on is a bad choice) but generally works in a small-scale way. There's enough suspense to see it through, as well as some shocking and hard-hitting violence. The story gets more entertaining as it goes on and it all becomes tension-packed towards the climax. It's hardly a great film, but I'd say that it achieves what it sets out to do.

I think Damien Power is going to be and author/director to watch. I know a lot of folks have dismissed this work as formulaic, but I am prepared to defend this.I can munch through horror/thrillers like popcorn with not much effect. This one grabbed my attention and kept it pretty taut. There were few or no moments where I thought, "This w/couldn't happen." The actors didn't overplay their roles, no chewing on the scenery. In addition, there were a couple of scenes that really made me sit up and pay attention (no, won't say which).I found the plot plausible, the layout and filming teasing, loved the fact that not every detail and bit of gore required viewing, and the ending...SPOILERS:I loved that the ending was open-ended, leaving the viewer to wonder what decision they would make.

Surprise, surprise. The boys in the entertainment industry can't think up anything original to get under the viewers skin. When are these garbage directors going to realize that unless they're remaking Deliverance, sexual assault in film is only upsetting and grossing out HALF of their audience? It's not entertaining, or shocking, or bold, it's just boring at this point. Use your imagination in horror or don't bother directing at all.
