For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
This movie is a big reminder for parents to remember how important it is to teach and protect your children and preparing them for what could possibly happen in their life. It is a big responsibility to have a child and even bigger one to educate them against the Predators and to know who might be a predator. This is a very moving story about such events that could have been avoided but we're overlooked because of trusting people that we're not investigated first. As a mother I was horrified but enlightened and reminded that every mother should teach her child girl or boy to watch out for suspicious people who want to use them. If you love your child teach them
I don't usually review either, as one reviewer said, but after seeing deb-481-36108's review, I was irate. Deb is obviously not a fan of Judd, probably bringing her sad view of politics into the review of a movie that was timely, forthright and honest, if brutal in it's depiction. This kind of things happens all the time, in every city, in every country. For this movie to be seen, to get a glimpse of one of the many ways it's happening, who knows, it could help stop even one girl from ending up in this tragedy. Judd did a great job, as usual. She's an amazing actress, and all portrayed their characters well. It was gritty, and gave us enough back story to know that these girls had lives waiting for them, cut short because of greed. Please, see this movie. Do not listen to sad people who go after stars for their political beliefs.
No, it is not high quality cinema, or action movie, or great character development. It isn't supposed to be! This is a true story about what goes on in our North American society right under your nose - likely in YOUR city - every day. It needs to be told. Again and again and again. It is not preachy! It's sad, disheartening, scary, and I hope it motivates more to action.
This is based on real life. Its not glamorous, its not fun or enjoyable, but it is important. The subject of human trafficking is portrayed as the evil it is. deb-481-3168, you are so far off the mark with your review, this wasnt an attempt to relaunch or launch anyones career. Most of the established actors including Judd and Patrick Duffy gave their time for free. This is the first time I have reviewed a movie on IMDB and have only done so now because your review made me so angry
