It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

I watched the two of the earlier Dahmer movies and this one is the least murderous one. Ironically, this is supposed to be a serial killer movie, not a movie about a high-school kid's depressed life. However, it gives you the sense that somehow directors or the story writer intentionally excluded the murder scenes and focused more on the daily part of Dahmer's life for some reason. My favourite Dahmer movie named as "Dahmer" displayed many of Dahmer's murders and the other movie called "The Secret Life: Jeffrey Dahmer" also did that, even though it wasn't very convincing and at some parts of the movie, things made no sense. I expected this movie to be extremely graphic and disturbing, because i thought if the old ones were that explicit, This one should have been highly grotesque but highly convincing at the same time. The movie did not reach up to my expectations, because of two main reasons: The first one is that it focused too much on Dahmer's high-school years, which i think is unnecessary because not much happens during his school years and this makes the plot boring and uninteresting. The second one is that the plot was blurred at some parts of the movie. For instance, Jeffrey sleeps with the jogger&doctor's dead body and then the movie displays a dead body of a wild bear in a blurred way. Thus, the movie was filled with open-ended scenes, which as a whole seemed like an incomplete puzzle. However, I have to admit that the protagonist (Ross Lynch) did a great job on acting the role of Dahmer and the resemblance was very high. Hence, i would like to see more action and interesting, also exciting scene,s attributing to the high resemblance and good acting of Dahmer, which as a result would create a harmonious, complete and unique movie. I dare the directors to be more creative, eccentric and courageous for a movie based on the story of a real-life serial killer like this one.

Super portrayal of Dhamer's upbringing. It shows that he had a very good chance of coming out normal.

My friend Dahmer is a movie about the coming of age of one of the US's most notorious serial killers, Jeffery Dahmer. This movie thoughtfully portrays Dahmer's journey into insanity as we learn he has a crazy mother, that his parents are divorced, that his parents let him keep an animal lab and that his friends in school only talk to him to make fun of him. Dahmer's temporary friend group is very realistic, with Derf, although not always being right, still being very relatable. This is a slow-paced movie which works perfectly for the setting of the '70s, and Ross Lynch gives a top notch performance of Dahmer, with Alex Wolff also giving a good performance of Derf. The only fault in this movie is how they transition the narrative from junior to senior year, in the start of the movie, as they only show an incredibly short montage of Dahmer, that doesn't really indicate his grade is changing.

I gotta say, I liked the graphic novel much more than this movie. In film version, it moved very, very slowly. Still, the topic, Dahmer's high school days, drew me in, in a sort of twisted fascination. Ross Lynch does a very good job in the lead role, sort of a Napoleon Dynamite gone wrong, in an Ed Chigliak sort of way. I was able to feel badly for Dahmer in this phase of his life, and I was left wondering a lot of what if's. I guess every life has these what if's, and Dahmer's ended up taking the horrifying road that it took. Creepy. Even creepier, to me, are the people who "lived" through their encounters with him. What about the prom date? Holy mackerel! A unique look, the unveils itself slowly.
