At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

In my opinion, this is the best movie in the 'Die Hard' series. It has become a classic shown around Christmas time, since the action in the movie takes place around this holiday. When the NY police officer John McClane (played by Bruce Willis) lands in LA to visit his family, he has no idea that his day will turn into a nightmare where he will be outgunned and outmanned while trying to survive and trying to find his way out of this mess. While the performance of Bruce Willis as John McClane didn't win him any awards, this should be considered as his iconic break-out into fame role. As a protagonist of this movie he's by no means perfect, but still gets the audience on his side while he battles his nemesis Hans Gruber. Hans is brilliantly played by Alan Rickman - he's confident, ruthless and one step ahead of law enforcement in terms of executing his plan. The only thing he didn't account for was... John McClane. The movie provides an entertaining battle between the two, while also throws some punches and makes fun of the police, the FBI and the media about how cliché and ignorant they can be in crisis situations. If you like action movies, this definitely is a must-see or as John McClane would say, "Welcome to the party, pal."

The film that made Bruce Willis into an international A list star. Die hard is one of the best action movies ever made and John Mctiernen who is often forgotten is fantastic in his direction. This was during his sweet phase when he also made another popular action film- Predator. Alan Rickman is amazing as Hans Gruber- you rarely see such evil villains anymore. Die Hard is often called a Christmas movie because it is set during that time, but you should see it right away.

I'm an indie movie kind of girl. You have to catch me in a good mood to be willing to watch something that's called "Die Hard". I'm glad my boyfriend did, because this was so fun. I dunno if I liked it because it was good or if it was because my man and I had so much fun watching it together. #Dolph #Carl #Perm

This is my five hundred and ninety-fifth review since I registered IMDb account about three years ago, but jubilee thousandth rated title. I planned it to be something real awesome, but then last night I found out that my girlfriend never saw "Die Hard" and that tragedy had to be corrected right away. When it was released I was 9 years old and for years it was favorite movie to all boys in school. From today's perspective, although I fully understand why it was number one, I definitely have to overthrow it from the throne. I could write forever about this flick, but to cut long story short, in my opinion, what is really worth in this movie are incredibly charismatic Bruce Willis and Reginald VelJohnson and the last half an hour. Everything else is average, monotonous and even boring. During the movie, my personal impression was around 6/10, but because of emotional attachment, cult status and influence, and especially because of its ending, which leaves really strong impression, I have to rate it higher. Also, I can't ignore four well deserved Oscar nominations, so my thousandth rating on this site will be7,5/10
