Shrek (2001)
It ain't easy bein' green -- especially if you're a likable (albeit smelly) ogre named Shrek. On a mission to retrieve a gorgeous princess from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon, Shrek teams up with an unlikely compatriot -- a wisecracking donkey.

i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Dreamworks struck gold when they released Shrek in 2001: it became the first ever animated feature to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, and it showed that PIXAR was no longer alone in the CGI-animation Hollywood race to the top. On top of that, this film parodied and subverted all the tropes of classic Disney movies and traditional fairy-tales by making the 'scary monster' the hero of the story and the most gold-spirited character in the whole thing. It's wonderful stuff that's still laugh-out-loud funny and still a very impressive technical sideshow from the early 2000s.Shrek is a movie that speaks for itself, and I think it doesn't need to depend on its recent spike of internet popularity to show that it's a classic and well done movie through and through. This one's probably one of my all-time favourite animated movies; plain and simply I think it's near flawless entertainment.
This movie really confronts the problems with society, such as the opioid crisis, domestic abuse, and donkey mistreatment head-on. It was a great way to talk about these issues with my teenage son.
UP THERE ABOVE THE MASTAPIECES, IT'S UP WITH THE BIG BOIS
Shrek made me understand why I'm human. It gave me the answers I have been searching for my entire life and I am now able to descend to the greater swamp.
