I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

Everything about this movie is perfect. The directing by Steven Spielberg is phenomenal. The acting is incredible and the score by John Williams is nothing less than legendary. I have seen this movie at least 30 times and it never gets old. Every scene has a purpose and the film keeps building up and up with terror and suspense. Everything that is great about film can be seen in Jaws. Definitely my favorite movie of all time.

Perhaps I am showing my age because I found it a chore to sit through Jaws every time I tried to watch it. Jaws was the first blockbuster and it is indeed a rousing sea adventure but the way it goes about it seemed rather pedestrian to me. The shot selection and camerawork is great- which is a given fact as this is Steven Spielberg we speak of. The acting is great throughout and the trio of Chief Brady, Hooper and Quint have become a fixation of cinema pop culture over the years, primarily because their banter and experience aboard the Orca is what most people remember. And of course the Shark itself which is probably even more scarier than movie monsters because they actually exist.

I was always a fan of Steven Spielberg, but I never considered him the king of suspense, until recently when I went on a Spielberg Marathon. Nearly everyone of his films had me on the edge of my set with this being one of the main features. It still holds up today even with the terrible mechanical shark because it is masterfully hidden throughout the film creating a more sinister villain. Everyone in the film pulls out a tremendous performance and let's not forget that without this film we don't have the Summer blockbuster as we know it.

Jaws, a classic, 70s shark movie that made people not go to the beach. As it was "terrifing" it bought potential into kids and adults for meaning this movie is for ALL ages!!
