I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

What can I say I really don't like horror movies but this Stephen king adaptation is amazing the children are all dealing with so much with the threat of a monster definitely has a big impact on stranger things and I must say I can't wait for the sequel

I am writing this without any comparisons to the original series as straight off everyone know this was going to get people hating on it "waah, only Tim Curry is Pennywise", "the original was more scary". I'll admit I was not getting my hopes up for this but honestly, the director and cast have done a bang up job. Pennywise is excellently portrayed, although for me, somewhat ruined due to a friend mentioning he sounds a little like Yoda. "Float down here, you will, mmmm"I digress, the losers club brings me back to how the Goonies felt, the small collection of different kids finding friendship with each other and coming together to fight a higher power. Although IT isn't scary to me, I can see people that have coulrophobia will be cowering behind their seats. Heres to the 2nd film and I do hope the same lines are followed, also looking forward to the directors cut coming out.Given a 6/10 purely on the fact I wanted to be given an unnerving feeling but was left with just, oh look a clown.

How this won awards I do t know. It's slow paced (partly as probably the producers want to squeeze out a sequel). The original actors were far better, particularly when looking at the new bill and the new clown, the pair of them can't act, they sound like they are just reading off a script that they aren't even convinced by. The film has no enthusiasm, the jumpy scenes take the "jump" out of the word "jumpy". No wonder the only actor I recognise is the boy who ended up in stranger things.

I know a movie can't be perfect but i was this close to giving IT a 10. The imagination of the scares was great. Bill Skarsgaard plays an incredibly menacing Pennywise. The scenes with the kids bonding told the story succinctly without a lot of film. I loved the pacing, that the writers kept much of King's source material. At no point did it feel cheesy, I was fully expecting it to be but was pleasantly surprised. The effects were incredible, little Georgie mutating at the end of the movie into Pennywise was effing fantastic.I'm sure on a second watch I'll change my mind, but at first glance this film is outstanding and a top contender for scariest movies this decade.
