Agents J and K are back...in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K's life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

Men in Black 3 is better than the second installment, but not as good as the original movie. Josh Brolin does such a good job playing Tommy Lee Jones that it's easy to forget they're different actors. And who knew that Jemaine Clement would make such a convincing and intimidating villain? Yes, this movie is full of plot holes, but it's a fun ride and it fits well into the Men in Black mythology.

On sheer inventiveness alone, this is the best of all three Men in Black films. Clearly, the ten year break between this and the forgettable second film allowed the filmmakers to come up with something worthwhile.Usually, time travel movies create a lot of brain-frying paradoxes, but MIB3 keeps it simple and uses some quick exposition to do away (and laugh at) any questions raised.Starting with two great set-pieces, almost back-to-back, MIB3 contains the best choreographed action of the three films. Boris the Animal's escape from a lunar prison sets him up as a formidable and more interesting villain than the one in the previous film. Though he doesn't have the physical abilities of Vincent D'Onfrio, he's genuinely scary. Then there's the action in the Chinese restaurant, which comes fast and hits like a sledgehammer, and yet, unlike a Michael Bay movie, it is coherent, fluid and doesn't finding glee in mindless death and destruction. After that, the film sees Will Smith go back in time to save Tommy Lee Jones's life. It is here some fresh life is breathed into the franchise, thanks to Josh Brolin's incredible performance as the younger version of Agent K. He's so good, all traces of Brolin disappear. Also, Emma Thompson's hair is really nice.
