This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

What I like1. The dead girl painted in gold2. Connery as Bond is as good as ever3. The plot is more fleshed out than Dr No and From Russia With Love4. The characters are more enjoyable5. The fact it started "Goldpingas"6. The final battle7. The mystery feel to itWhat I didn't like1. Nothing reallyOverall this is one of the best Bond movies and probably Connery's best effort out of the bunch. I feel like this movie deserves the praise that it gets at the end of the day

Goldfinger is almost a universal favorite for Bond fans and audiences and it's not hard to see why. Goldfinger introduces some key Bond elements that later become a formula for future successful Bond films. You have a great car equipped with gadgets, a great villain and henchman, great Bond girl, soundtrack and off course, Sean Connery. Sean Connery is in his element for this film and it shows. Many people put forward their actor who they think is the best Bond but in Goldfinger and Thunderball Connery shows he IS James Bond. Goldfinger is perhaps one of the greatest villains in Bond history as his plans are evil and ingenious. The Bond girl played by Honor Blackman is superb and probably the first Bond girl who shows she can hold her own and is very much his equal. The action sequences, plot and direction of this film was fantastic. Goldfinger is easily one of the greatest Bond films and its elements used became a standard formula to be applied in future Bond movies.

Goldfinger (1964)Plot In A Paragraph: James Bond (Connery) uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve. GOOOOLLLLDDDDFINGEEERRRRRRRR.... He's the man. The man with the Midas touch!! Almost everybody's favourite Connery Bond movie. From the pre credits scene, where Bond uses a woman as a human shield before electrocuting an assassain, through Shirley Basseys glorious title track to the finale, the pace of Goldfinger never lets up. Goldfinger was easily the best bond movie to date, far superior to From Russia with Love and more professional than Dr. No. The action was more exciting, the pace faster and the script was funnier too. It also included two classic Bond moments, a shot of murdered Shirley Eaton, covered in heavy gold paint and secondly Connery himself spread eagled on a metal bench, a laser beam cutting between his legs, advancing slowly on his private parts. The bad guy Goldfinger (Gert Forb) and his hench man Odd Job (Harold Sakata) were the best to date, and so was the car!! The bulletproof Aston Martin, which included a reader, machine gun headlamps collar tire slashing knives, smokescreens, flamethrowers, oil slicks and the famous ejector seat. Honour Blackman is a joy as the delightfully named Pussy Galore ("I must be dreaming") The best Bond to date also have Connery his highest grossing movie, and best performing one too!! As Goldfinger grossed $51 million at the domestic Box Office to end the year the 2nd highest grossing movie of 1964. Only My Fair Lady starring Audrey Hepburn outgrossed it.

I still think Goldfinger and From Russia are the best Bond movies. Connery at the top of his game here. This is a spoofier movie than the first two Bonds, but it works superbly. Great villain in Gert Frobe's Auric Goldfinger, and the best Henchman in all the Bond films in the guise of Oddjob. This is the film that really took off at the box office and launched Bond as the only serious rival to the Beatles in the 60's mania stakes. It was one of the most successful movies of all time on release, and Thunderball would excel even that performance the following year. Our story of course concerns Bond out to discover what Operation Grandslam is all about. It's great fun.Honor Blackman is one of the most memorable Bond girls. "I must be dreaming" is a classic Bond line. It's a shame in a way that Goldfinger proved the template for 70s Bond, films vastly inferior to this one. I can take Bond with a rubber duck camouflage hat; submarine cars not so much...
