A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Thanks to a sick blend of action, comedy, and maturity, DC knocks this one out of the park and then some. This isn't just a home run, it's a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth. Beautifully animated, very funny, fantastically acted, and an awesome story. If this is only the beginning, I can't wait for the other two parts. There's really nothing wrong with this movie, the villains are introduced well, there's action throughout, the humor is spot-on, and the climax is superb. I'm not too familiar with Damian Wayne in the comics, but I love what I see so far. He might have an attitude in this, but he comes from a life of privilege, of servants tending to his every wish, it's natural that he would act this way. Plus, his chemistry with Alfred and Dick is great. I don't care what anyone says, this movie rocks.

It's interesting that this installment of the DC animated films is called Son of Batman and it stars a ten year old Robin, yet it's the most adult of these movies I ever seen.Adapting the origin of Damian Wayne from the comics, Deathstoke (who was not evolved with this in the comics)unleashes his plot to take over the league of assassins, killing Ra Al Ghul in the process, and putting his daughter Talia on the run, forcing her to unite her son, Damian with his biological dad, Batman. The character deign was pretty good. Batman's costume was pretty cool as well as Nightwing's who made an appearance. I really like the design of Killer Croc who makes an appearance in the movie as well. The story was pretty cool too. They did not let up just because Robin is only ten. The film is dark and Damian is as dark as he is in the comic books. They did not get that wrong. I feel there was a misstep in Batman, however, but Robin and his relationship with Nightwing was close to the comics. The animation was mediocre. It seemed that they were trying to make the whole thing gritty and more down to earth, realistic, which I'm not a fan of. It's animation, you can make it big and sir real. If they wanted to make it real than they should have made it live action (which would have made this movie a 10) The voice direction was pretty lame as well. I was into Jason 0'Mara as Batman for a second, but his silent but deadly Batman turned out not so good. He was just one of many voices that just did not seem to click together. I'm sure every animated movie has the voice acting done all separately mouths apart, but it's not suppose to sound that way and this movie does. I think it's another fault of the animation (possibly the music as well)Overall, the people over at Warner Bros animation have done it again with another excellent straight-to-DVD DC animated feature.

Marvel dominates the live action stuff but, until DC catches up, they have the animated film department masteredÂ…until they released "Son of Batman." I'm not one to complain about the changes made from adapting a book, graphic novel or comic (and this one had A LOT of changes), instead, the problem that hurt my enjoyment of this one had to due with the fact the story was just really weak and the dialogue was absolutely terrible. While the film follows the predictable lines of a man finding out he has a son and has to somehow connect with them despite the fact they have been alienated from each other for a significant amount of time, the movie fails to hit that requirement of the two finding common ground and they learn, laugh, love and grow together. Yes, "Son of Batman" ends with Batman and his son Damian being a good team and Damian even becomes Robin, the problem is that we don't really see them grow. Damian is a bratty little snob of a child up until he gets the exact thing he wants and is the one thing Batman keeps trying to teach him not to cling to and then *BAM* they are all good and their common ground is found and are now the best of besties. It was a very weak attempt at family drama and matters aren't helped by the fact the film has terrible dialogue to back it up.Some will write off these complaints as nothing because the film is "just a cartoon, man," but when you compare this film to the other, numerous quality films that DC has released based on their characters and their iconic stories, this film just feels like a letdown and something that was thrown together too quickly. What's up, brother? Feel like reading more of my rants, ramblings, geek references, bad jokes, and other movie reviews (like a more in-depth look at "Son of Batman" and other animated Batman movies that, thankfully, don't include his annoying son)? If you don't and hate me now (because hating people is easy on the internet), I just want you to know that I still think you are a beautiful person and want to make you some chocolate chip cookies.

Historically I'm a big fan of the DC animated series' and movies. There has been a trend in their movies lately that I haven't liked. This was one of my least favorite DC movies. It's not horrible, but it's incredibly sub-par for a number of reasons: 1) Damien is WAY to tough for any 10-year old kid, no matter how well trained. Plus he was just arrogant and annoying.2) Deathstroke was pathetic in this! First, his voice actor. The guy from Dharma and Greg...seriously?? It was laughable. He was trying to sound all tough and menacing but failed badly. He is supposed to be one of Batman's deadliest enemies, and in fact Batman doesn't often beat him unless he gets lucky or outsmarts him. But in this movie, he's barely a match for a 10 year old kid. Plus, Batman beats him down one time, without even breaking a sweat. Like I said, pathetic.3) There wasn't any of the classic dialogue we've all come to expect from the DC movies. It was all pretty forgettable.I won't probably ever re-watch this and I hope they shake things up a bit in the future and stop trying to be so edgy and hard-core. Go back to the way these movies used to be.
