As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Plot; Two men plot to steal the Declaration of Independence, which they believe has an invisible map on its back that points the way to a treasure beyond the imagination. You don't typically seek out this genre w/plausibility as a prerequisite, but even so, take that belief and suspend it before pushing play here. If you do, what you'll discover is a reasonably fun and clever adventure that's as earnest as you can get w/o crossing over into the dreaded corny territory. Making good use of treasure hunting genre conventions and freshening them up a bit by applying them to American history, National Treasure is a film worth unburying.

This my first such movie about treasure hunt, I feel like I want be an archaeologist. The main actor hunts for the treasure with his partner and a lady who works at the museum. He over come many obstacles to find the treasure. I like sidekick character Riley because he is so funny. The movie was good than I thought.I am very eager to watch the second part.

With Director:Jon Turteltaub who has done the other national treasure has also done the while you were sleeping and sorcerers apprentice does a fine job here in a action thriller that he is more capable of Nicolas Cage .is Benjamin Franklin Gates listening to his grandfather from his childhood Christopher plummer character has a cameo here inspires a young gates to be a puzzle seeker to find clue and look for conspiracies in history a great cast with his sidekick Justin bartha character following around as Riley chasing clue and doing the hi tech stuff with Sean bean character Ian Howe trying to follow his clue from finding a ship with clues in the ice to and underground cavern under a church its quiet the action packed film I saw in the cinema with support roles from Jon Voight as Patrick keeping the police off his soon with Harvey keitel as detective saduskyA historian races to find the legendary Templar Treasure before a team of mercenaries Benjamin Franklin Gates descends from a family of treasure-seekers who've all hunted for the same thing: a war chest hidden by the Founding Fathers after the Revolutionary War. Ben's close to discovering its whereabouts, as is his competition, to reveal The greatest adventure history has ever revealed with history and museums to plunder it's a high stakes at best so with a big Budget:$100,000,000 (estimated) it Grossed$173,005,002hunters pick up a female ally along the way as they try to beat a rich bad man at finding the greatest cache of treasure of all time. Nicolas Cage gives an effortlessly engaging lead performance. His male and female sidekicks (Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha) play off him quite well. The main villain (Sean Bean) is a more low-key bad guy than we tend to see in movies these days... he doesn't go on and on ranting and raving and screaming to prove how bad he is... he just proves it quite matter-of-factly through his actions. Jon Voigt and Harvey Keitel do alright in a couple of minor roles that don't do much for their acting cred but probably gave their bank accounts a boost... . I was also pleasantly surprised that there were less dumb action stunts than I expected. The two major stunt scenes in the film (a car chase and a stairway cave-in) were pretty exciting... the movie wisely concentrates more on plot and dialogue from the producer of the pirates of the Caribbean Jerry brucheimer comes a thrilling edge of your seat adventure puzzle story like DA vinci code staring nick cage and abundance of special effects and an outstanding supporting cast as an obsessed treasure hunter tries find and decipher ancient riddles left behind that will lead to greatest treasures ever known by man in history and he is dogged by ruthless criminals who wont leave him alone and needs it himself heart pounding chase across Washington dc from the library to the George Washington memorial to the bell tower of independence to the declaration of the American society with close calls make the stakes even higher in a crime caper and one of Disney's exciting treasure hunts ever experienced I hope you enjoyed my review its just under 2hr 10mins

National Treasure (2004) starring Nicolas Cage, is one of his biggest films to date. Released back in November 2004, the film was considered a surprise hit, which eventually lead its way to a sequel. The enjoyment of this film isn't in its suspense, there's surprisingly little of it. The clues come too easily but are made cleverly for audiences to grasp at. The two lead actors don't seem much interested in each other, and the writers don't seem much interested in them. Though what engages in the film is the clever script that does work and is entertaining. National Treasure has received mixed reviews, all some are justified but for a film such as this (aimed towards a younger audience) many critics can be as harsh.Within what we see, including the prized document, the fascinating tours of the historical halls and passageways and ventilation shafts and catacombs we get as the good guys try to outrun the bad, gives the movie a sometimes irresistible ambiance. Although quite over the top in some scenes, it makes it an entertaining and fun thrill ride.
