The luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain is a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side, and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz to the much coveted Pirate of the Year Award. It’s a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they battle a diabolical queen and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist, but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!

To me, this movie is perfection.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
This movie is very entertaining and effective. The animation is very well done, the story is interesting and funny, and the characters are well portrayed. There are some really dumb moments that hold this movie back, and it does get a bit boring at times, but overall I would recommend this movie. Be warned, miscommunication is used as a plot device several times. Not enough of them are funny, and I can see how that would piss you off.
This show is suppose to be mostly for children. The plot is all over the place and the characters are mores suited for adults. There are no funny parts there are no positive messages and most importantly the story is at most uninteresting. Usually Hollywood animation production at best is forgettable but you get to laugh a little, in this production when we finished watching not only I could not remember the main characters names I could not even remember laughing. I think I am going to watch Castle in the sky to forget this so called movie.In response to another reviewer who was complaining that females in the show were stereotyped for men: Remember this is suppose to be entertainment not a political statement. People like you have turned women to one dimensional characters in movies so now they are men with bo-obs. Wish some people would grow up.
"The Pirates! Band of Misfits" is very funny, ranging from slapstick humour to subtle puns and historical references in the background. The film looks amazing and once it comes out on home video, it will be one of those films you can use to show off the difference in picture quality between Dvds and Blu-rays. There is so much attention to detail paid to every frame of the film that even if the main joke isn't doing it for you, there's something in the background that will make you laugh or catch your eye. The story isn't as strong as expected from Aardman studios, but it's still so much fun that it's an easy recommendation for children or adults. (3-D theatrical version on the big screen, May 22nd, 2012).
it is not great, impressive or cool. only decent, amusing, nice. and the cause is represented by the expectations. basic support - the role of new adaptation of novels who remains perfect cover for directors good intentions.the second virtue - the splendid cast. voices are essence in this case because the characters seems be parts of a well - known universe. the third pillar - the inspired music. not the last - the chance for young people to make a trip in alternative history. a good isle for entertainment, exploitation of pirates fashion, it is victim of too great expectations more from technology than the artistic ways.
