Remember that horror/musical "Repo: The genetic opera"? No? Well apparently the makers of this movie did. Cause its a major rip off of the afore mentioned movie, except without the amusement or the singing. A "repo man" who's job it is to reposses the replacement organs of patients who fall behind on their payments begins to question his job.

The movie doesn't present itself as a psycho thriller, but as an action-flick. You might end up going in with the wrong expectations. Don't be mistaken - if your a fan of action you will definitely get your share, but it might leave you confused. It takes a little more work to understand the motivation behind Jude Law's character and how he tries to redeem himself, more than the average Joe is willing to provide.www.mahendraguru.com

Like Gattica with it's DNA plot, audiences aren't yet ready to find the subject of body organ replacements a topical issue. That's not to say they won't one day. This movie is just about saved by good acting performances from Jude Law, Forest Whitaker and Liev Schreiber. With a different plot it could have been turned into a great buddy movie between law and Whitaker. By setting the organ repossession story in the future with mechanical organs, it kind of lost it's bite for me. It might have been more controversial if it had been based upon the repossession of donated body organs. For most of us this is just a science fiction story, but for many people in the world with faulty organs it really is a matter of life and death today. But it did make me think how fortunate I am to have working body organs, or at least for the moment I do.

Before I complain about how poor the plot, the acting, the score and the cinematography were, let me start with my main complaint: Why does there have to be so much gore and so many disgusting scenes in a science-fiction movie so much so that you'd need a barfing bag while watching it? Don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of the horror genre and I enjoy watching occasional gory horror movies. The problem is I went into this movie expecting to see a science-fiction movie not a gore-fest. I had to fast forward many parts because they were completely out of place and belonged to the horror genre. I need to point out the fact that there's a difference between horror movies that aim to scare you and those that aim to disgust you. Sadly, this supposedly "science-fiction" movie falls into the latter category. My second complaint is about the pacing of the movie, which is too slow and boring. Oh and why isn't there a single good-looking actor in this movie? They are all unpleasant to look at apart from the black guy maybe. Couldn't they just pick a handsome guy to play the main role? I was really disappointed and if there were a zero rating I would've given it. This movie is ridiculously overrated. Avoid it like the plague.
