If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

For the most part, I consider the Disney Channel (and all its programming and outlets) to be a bit too "in your face" and loud in terms of shows, acting, promotions, and pretty much everything else. When one of "their own" become stars, they are (at least for a short time) what the world is talking about. Yet, every once in awhile, there are shows (e.g. Drake and Josh, Wizards of Waverly Place) and actors (e.g. Josh Peck, Selena Gomez) that I can legitimately enjoy with my younger siblings. "Another Cinderella Story" is one of those shows.Starring Gomez, at what probably will amount to the height of her "Wizards" fame, this film channels the classic children's story "Cinderella" and gives it a culturally relevant twist. When a young girl (Gomez) lucks into an exclusive dance with the school's most handsome boy (Andrew Seeley) but then must rush home to please her overbearing stepmother (anything sound familiar yet?!), an I-Pod (ala slipper) is the only link between their special moment. Thus, the remainder of the film centers on both boy and girl finding each other and building a relationship. This movie is clearly superior to its Hilary Duff-starring predecessor in the areas of acting, energy, and excitement:Acting-wise, Gomez can hold her own with anyone, while Seeley, rather surprisingly, almost steals the show with his screen time. Obviously hired to be the "leading hunk", Seeley turns in a genuine performance. The supporting cast is also just stereotypically goofy enough to be considered "true Disney", but also too stereotypical to really offend anyone (in the High School Musical mold). In terms of energy and excitement, the fact that the film is set to a back-drop of hip-hop dancing automatically gives it a bit of spunk and flash. Both Gomez and Seeley (or their stunt doubles...whatever the case may be) can really rip it up on the dance floor, only adding to the chemistry between them. Thus, if you have children (or younger siblings) that adore pretty much all Disney fare, fear not...for this is a film that can be enjoyed by you as well! Though not an instant classic by any means, it is a solid little fun film that will have you singing its tunes and dancing to its catchy beats long after you push the "STOP" button.

I watched this movie recently with my family and it really wasn't that great, though it wasn't totally awful. Not one I would recommend if you think. with Many convenient plot twists and completely unbelievable scenes the story was likely written by a 9 year old. The cast couldn't have been much worse, either, with a 50 year old pop diva. Jane Lynch plays some great characters, but this wasn't one of them. This take offers nothing new on the all too familiar tale of Cinderella and, in fact, is a very poorly done rendition of that classic tale. On top of that there are some scenes which are simply not believable and pointless, such as the masquerade ball where nobody could tell who anybody was, even though they wore masks over only the tops of their faces. The only two blacks in the entire movie didn't even recognize each other, moronically. Yet for some reason when Selena Gomez entered in a rather poofed out, concealing dress all eyes were on here as if everyone thought she looked beautiful even though her body was completely covered, her outfit was not form fitting and they supposedly could not see enough of her face for even her step sisters to recognize her. This movie is entirely forgettable. Absolutely nothing about it stood out even slightly. It is probably the worst take on Cinderella I have ever seen.

This movie is a wonderful retelling of the original Disney animated version of Cinderella. We have our Cinderella, Mary who played by the delightful Selena Gomez. Then we have the prince, Joey played by the talented Andrew Seeley. The stepmother Domonique was brilliantly played by Jane Lynch. The rest of this ensemble cast which included the stepsisters (Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins) Tami (Jessica Parker) Dustin (Marcus Paulk) and Natalia (Nicole La Placa) all injected their characters with a bid of an edge. This movie was aimed at the 9-13 age range and hit it's target. Was it predictable, yes but the cast was brilliant and brought an old tale into today's world. The characters were lovable, except the obvious Britt Bree and Natalia, who balanced the fairytale with their nasty attitudes and antics. I loved the dance theme and the dancing was amazing. It won't win an academy award, but that was not it's goal. The goal was entertainment pure and simple.

OK stop saying guys that this movie was predictable...its starring Selena Gomez, its called Another Cinderella Story...of course its predictable !! I mean, every movie lately that has hilary duff, lindsay lohan or any other Disney star in it IS meant to be predictable. It's all the same mold. And the thing about this one is that...its fully conscious that the movie is like every other movie that has Cinderella in the title. It's predictable and they know it ! I think thats the biggest shame in the whole thing. I mean, yeah they wanted to make Selena known...but why not try something different! not another version of a movie we al saw 1309849 times. And speaking about the age gab between the 2 main actors. Of course yeah we can see it, of course it annoyed me a little. Because omg...hes 26 :O But overall i think they are great actors cause we believe it even...that's pretty much it, its a movie i feel like i saw a thousand times. but well. Seems like these days thats the only thing we get to see.
