This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

The first "Anchorman" movie is one of the most quotable comedy movies of all-time. When I sat down in the theater for the long-awaited sequel, I expected more humor along the same lines (if not quite as fresh). That is exactly what I received...and in the case of comedy films that is a win for all parties involved. For a basic plot summary, "Anchorman 2" tells the story once again of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), a man born to look good and read the news. When wife Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) essentially takes his job, however, Ron must decide what the next direction is that his life should take. With input from the old news team of Brick Tamland (Steve Carrell), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), and Champ Kind (David Koechner), Ron decides to pursue an opportunity to land on a 24-hour news station. This sequel primarily works because of Ferrell's impeccably honed Burgundy character. When some of the jokes inevitably fall flat, sometimes just Ferrell's reactions alone can carry a scene. Without his strong presence, this franchise (and especially this installment) would be utterly lost. Does the movie contain an ensemble cast? To be sure. All the auxiliary parts work well together...but they also have some jokes that fall completely flat or are just plain stupid. Only the "Burgundy scenes" are the ones that are consistently hilarious.Basically, "Anchorman 2" is a four-star movie (though not five) because it continues the solid humor of the original. It contains more than its share of fresh jokes, but others are just a bit stale because they have essentially been done before. That's not fault of its own, of course, but the characters were just so fresh in the original that now they don't "pop" quite as much here. Essentially, this is probably about the best sequel that could have been expected for this franchise.

i have to tell that this movie has more funny scenes and literally better than first part, they knew what to do with the every characters. i really loved watching this movie, i had tears while laughing so hard. steve carell was the best and i should say that they made use of him more than the first part... he got lot of scenes on to his pockets. Will Ferrell was one hell of man, he owns the spot light n he gives the best shot every time he steps in the camera.. baxter is epic as always.. when the climax hits with every country news channel with so many celebrities , i felt goosebumps all over my spine.. all together we must appreciate the director a lot because he made what we liked and i strongly recommend him to take 3rd part and i don't no , i think it should never end .. but please don't end any character in this movie.. everybody is a gem here. movie may b out of context in some portions but we can get so many messages through all the funny stuffs though, they make sense sometimes.. i didn't expect Meagan Good here.. that black word scene was out of box thinking. hope the series continues to excite us more n more.. love from India <3

As expected with many comedy films which have been considered classics but its fans, comedy sequels rarely deliver based on its hype. However in this case in which an overlong sequel about newscaster Ron Burgundy, Anchorman Two: The Legend Continues has 20 minutes of Will Ferrell brilliance, and endless sections where the jokes go crude far too easily. Ferrell, completely worshiped by a mixed bunch of Saturday Night Live comedians can be both unbelievably funny and embarrassingly unfunny and there are proper tumbleweed moments here. But for every 50 bad jokes, there is one inventive one, none of which remotely works when written down: it's all in Ferrell's eyes and delivery, or the way he happens to be standing. Although Anchorman 2 is not quite funny, it is still relatively amusing and entertaining. We are still invested in the character of Ron Burgundy and still are entertained and awaiting for what happens next.

The original Anchorman, created in 2004, became a classic and still has quotes being recited to this day such as Ron yelling, "Milk was a bad choice!" or Brick's kind invitation to Veronica saying, "I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party." Although the 2013 film Anchorman 2: The Legend of Ron Burgundy has many funny lines, it not only is less quotable but much less memorable. Movies represent what is currently acceptable to say and do in real life, and each generation is receiving a different, more vulgar, representation of life. Whether or not the movie is realistic, or completely off the wall and animated, the content is subconsciously understood by the viewer as what is currently acceptable in society. The English vocabulary receives the biggest hit from movies. . Language shows the current trends in the ever evolving vocabulary, and jokes made within films, quickly turn into popular phrases heard around school. Anchorman 2, although it is rated the same as its predecessor, it is shown to have much more vulgar language. With information from IMDb, the Internet Movie Database, we are able to statistically compare the two films. Both films possess 1 use of the F word and 14 sexual references. But when it comes to scatological and anatomical terms there are much more in the second film. The first Anchorman has 5 scatological and 19 anatomical terms while the second Anchorman has 14 anatomical terms and 27 scatological terms. Anatomical terms are considered, "words referring to parts of the human anatomy, mostly the private parts, and are considered crude" (IMDb). Scatological terms refer to, "words that have to do with feces, urine and defecation" (IMDb). This side by side comparison shows a clear increase in obscenities from the first to the second film. This is a very blatant depiction showing how the MPAA has become more lenient over time, but if that is not enough evidence already, both films are given the exact same five out of ten evaluation on profanity. Fortunately Anchorman 2, received a much lower view count than the ongoing hit of the first movie, and because the jokes were not as funny as the original, they did not quite stick as well. But, because of the impact movies play on our minds, this is still a topic of concern. With each new movie coming out, it is questionable what the language will be like within that film.
