The Wicker Man (2006)

Just perfect...

Great Film overall

Good movie but grossly overrated

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I don't get the hate for this movie, because I think a lot of the stuff in it is supposed to be funny, and I found it hilarious. The bike and the bear suit were just classic. I mean, people hate this movie but they talk about it a lot, and I think that says something for the movie. You remember it, and I think that's because it was actually made really well. It's always a good laugh for me. Just don't try and take it too seriously.

Have you seen it? No? There is likely a very good reason for that...it stinks.Like nearly ALL the endless remakes and reboots that have been plaguing movie goers for the past decade or so....all this is, is a heartless version of the original.It has no heart.It has no soul.It is a retelling of a film that we all love and cherish...and it adds nothing to the story. It improves nothing but the special effects--which held up very well over time--and in some cases belittles the fans of the original...particularly in the fact that they remade the movie at all, without adding anything clever to it.Like so many other remakes it is a hallow shell of the original.

The only thing that could make watching this movie tolerable would be with a little help from the guys of MST3K, it is that bad. The only thing it has in common with the original is the Wicker Man itself, the story is absurd and the acting is wooden at best. If someone had said that this movie was a parody, I could well have believed it as it was so unconvincing as its intended genre. If you want to see a great and creepy and unsettling horror movie, do yourselves a favour and watch the original version and leave this rubbish well alone.

Wow. My wife and I just sat through this nonsense on Netflix. My lovely wife loves Mr. Cage, but, oh my what a piece of dung. More than anything, this film makes no sense! What the heck were they thinking? Nic won an Oscar for crying out loud, and he is reduced to this mess. One positive is his, what must be intentional, over acting. He really takes it over the top in this one. He has plenty of company in this train wreck however, as everyone has taken the script to 11. Movies like this always have my wonder how folks get mixed up in movies this bad. I mean, Cage is taking anything and everything for a while now to get the IRS off his back, but who read this thing as was like, oh yeah this looks awesome. I don't have to worry about spoilers because I can't give any. I have no idea what this film is about, do yourself a solid and stay away.
