I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The people who didn't like this movie must have thought they were going to watch a Walt Disney movie! The scriptwriting is so absurdist that it would make John Cleese proud. All three of the main characters play straight men at times, because the jokes cover almost any topic you can think of. If you ever saw Peter Sellers in a comedy, imagine a film with three of him in it, together. Yes, some of the jokes are gross, but I just ignored those. Dave Franco plays a guy who is either drunk/brain damaged/lobotomized, or....I dunno. You have to see this movie to believe it. If you remember Tom Green, well, he would have liked this, I'm sure. LOL. Too funny. My wife said this is the funniest movie she has ever seen!

Tired of playing second-fiddle to his obnoxious boss, businessman Dan Trunkman quits and forms his own competing mineral sales firm. He takes a retiring associate and a dim-witted sales applicant with him. After a year and a half of struggle, a promising deal is in sight, but promptly folds, thanks to Dan's ex-boss. Determined to save the deal, Dan and company fly to Germany, where a series of outrageous obstacles awaits.........Given the body of work that Vaughn has given us over the past ten years, you would think that this would be a straight forward, Hall Pass type of movie, where the three main characters get up to nothing but hi-jinks and party hard all the time. But it's nothing like that, in fact, it's quite a depressing movie about three people who go for broke, and have a moment of self realisation halfway through the second act.Wilkinson plays the miserable older chap who hates his wife, life, and just wants to do something special for once. Franco plays the joker of the bunch, always making mistakes and causing havoc, but them there is a revaluation about him having some sort of learning difficulty, and it sours the humour that he was suppose to provide before this, and after. And then there's Vaughn. The usual cocky character has long gone from the likes of that one where he was sarcastic about someone, and we are left with someone who looks like he has a permanent hangover. The humour isn't there, and the desperation of the characters only makes the humour all the more detrimental to the films narrative, and there is also an awful subplot involving his son being bullied, any decent human being would go back to reality, not chase their desperations.Add Nick Frost in a worthless role, and Marsden and Miller there for the cash, and you have a really strange movie that is neither funny, nor dramatic, just existing.....

Let's get this out of the way from the start: This is not Swingers. You can't copy a formula like that, though Vince Vaughn does his usual shtick once again. And here lies the ingredient that will either lead to you enjoying this or absolutely dreading the experience of watching this movie. If you like him and the characters (quick talking, full of quips) he's portraying, you can be assured that you will at least have some fun with this. With two sidekicks who do a good job completing him (if that's what you want to call that). Especially Franco plays that innocent and uneducated simple minded guy as good as is possible. He seems very comfortable slipping into that role.A lot of sexual jokes and a bit of nudity along the way, if you're not offended by that ... if you are, try the wheelbarrow ... ;o)

This movie is superficial. The jokes are marginally funny. There were nude scenes. The plot is somewhat predictable, a story of a underdog who eventually pulled it off with persistency and heart despite numeral setbacks. However, I for one can relate to the characters, a lot. I watched the movie on HBO on a Friday night after a long day of work as a small business owner. On this day, I bid on a project of a client who really likes our work but seldom gives projects because of our small size. Later I was told that another client was not happy with the frequency of our communication - a large company's VPs have meeting with her on a daily basis. With about a million things to take care of everyday, I can't imagine to have time to call her everyday just to chat. If you have struggles as a small business owner, which I am sure each has, you will like this movie because you feel that the main character is part of you. You try so hard for your family and your employees, whose livelihood depend on you. So the movie struck me on a day filled with some success and some setback at the same time, a typical day of my life. Who can't say that's not how life is no matter what you do. So the spirit of the character is contagious, and can struck you deep. The movie appears to be superficial. But when you think about it, and relate it to your life, it is not that superficial. In fact, it provoked some deep emotions.
