Calvin is a young novelist who achieved phenomenal success early in his career but is now struggling with his writing – as well as his romantic life. Finally, he makes a breakthrough and creates a character named Ruby who inspires him. When Calvin finds Ruby, in the flesh, sitting on his couch about a week later, he is completely flabbergasted that his words have turned into a living, breathing person.

Absolutely brilliant
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Well that movie is definitely different from it's trailer! The trailer doesn't tell it all or even half! Although I download it because I'm into romantic movies but that one totally exceeded my expectations!!Awesome performance for both Dano and Zoe and the story itself is very amazing and full of things to consider in real life.Without spoiling the material I read once but can't remember where a saying: "If you love someone let him/her go if they came back then it's real if they didn't then they ain't your ones from beginning" .. And that what happened! Simple as!
A lot of people are describing Ruby Sparks as a romantic comedy, but I'd be more inclined to call it an indictment of people who want their relationships to be as light and fluffy as a romantic comedy. The movie follows a blocked writer who creates a character that somehow becomes real. Yet, as another character points out, she's not real. She is essentially a somewhat muted version of the manic pixie trope, but the movie gets away with it because it's more a movie about the sort of guy who creates manic pixies.Much of the movie is fluffy and funny, but as it progresses a darkness seeps in that makes me resist the romantic comedy label. To me the movie is more a critique than a romance, although I feel the script fails to follow it's own logic through to the end, offering an ending that is emotionally satisfying but feels intellectual dishonest.Still, it's quirky and funny and original, with good performances.
Ruby Sparks is the story of a writer who could create the girl of his dreams just by the ink of his typewriter and his fingers. Ruby finds himself struggling with the reality of whatever his girlfriend has come to be because of his ideas.See, the concept itself is interesting IF used correctly, and so it was. But during the last 30 minutes it felt the movie lost steam and needed a re-establishment, something that can do it for an ending, fortunately that was fixed during the last minute, but the 30 minutes period is still a thing to speak about. Nevertheless, the dialogue seemed decently fine and the acting was good, there could've been some adjustments and also the story line which was included surely didn't fit the 1h30min so it felt like it was lengthened on purpose, otherwise they could've used different approaches to advantageously fulfill the movie window period.7/10
This movie seemed like a funny, carefree comedy, yet went so much deeper as it moved on. A must watch, in my opinion as it pulled off everything so smoothly. The movie feels enough to take you to another dimension and then roller coast you to dark depths. The different emotions would keep your eyes glued to the screen. Now you may watch it, as my expert opinion allows it.
