It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

This is an indie chick flick. It is about "the relationship." After a whole year, Jack (Mark Duplass) can't get over his brother's death, an indication this has written by a woman who believes men think like women. At the recommendation of his brother's ex-girlfriend Iris (Emily Blunt) he utilizes a remote cabin on an island in Washington state. As he arrives late at night Iris' sister Hannah (Rosemarie DeWitt) is also there. She just broke up with her girlfriend and they hit it off well, in fact a little too well.Iris, for some unexplained reason, arrives and confesses to her sister her love for Jack, one that is mutual but never spoken. We wait for the moment. The movie starts out with a bunch of pretentious dialogue, including the old, "remember when he stole a wheelchair" flashback. The dialogue was written badly. The acting was good, and I admit Lynn Shelton did a better job at directing this formula than writing it. Can we stop with a guy riding a bicycle with beautiful scenery to an acoustical accompaniment? It is time to move on.Parental Guidance: F-bomb. Brief sex scene. No nudity.

The biggest impression I got from this movie is how well the relationships and emotions are portrayed in it. That is, emotions of contemporary, urban, humans. Of course, it's not a documentary, so the story isn't 100% authentic, but, it's elements are. They are just jumbled together for greater effect. The acting is very good in the same respect. You will see elements of behavior of people you've known in this movie, and it's gonna be interesting. One final thing to observe is that they seem to have enjoyed making this movie. It's very nice when you sense that about a movie, and it's not very often that you do.

Your Sister's Sister is your independent take on relationship, which is much closer to life than Hollywood's.The good. Extremely realistic reactions and chain of events. Superb ending, just right. Heartfelt. Interesting and refreshing story. Good acting. Nice twists and turns in the scenario. The actors. All three give us nice performances, but Emily Blunt really shines a little brighter. She's so lovable. The bad. The intro is awkward. Some of the camera work is below par.The ugly. Him looking at the mother and kids at the diner. Unnecessary, distracting, and in a style not keeping with the rest of the film. The result. I highly recommend to everyone who likes movies that are different and don't require a lot of action.

This film is about a man who gets invited to a country house by his best friend, where he sleeps with his best friend's sister after a drunken night."Your Sister's Sister" is close to a single location film with a minimal number of characters. Most of the film takes place in a house with only three people. For a film like this to be good, either the characters have to be interesting, or the plot has to be emotionally intense. "Your Sister's Sister" is unfortunately neither. The plot lacks tension or emotional climax. It is just too plain to sustain attention or interest. Mark Duplass portrays an unlikable loser, and yet he gets all the adoration from the two sisters which is rather unbelievable. Rosemarie DeWitt plays a selfish woman, and she is not likable either. Emily Blunt's character is the only interesting character, but she is not enough to save the uninteresting plot or characters. It is unfortunate that "Your Sister's Sister" is an underwhelming drama, as it could have been a lot more than it currently is.
