There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Edge of your seat entertainment and kudos to the actors, director and the team that brought this forward making it look so real. Well done. Plausible story of everyday life and it going about its business until it clashes with your life. Then, the real story begins. What would you do? Mr. minding his business, works hard and has a life and a future is pulled into a happenstance that not only threatens his life but that of his family. This is no super hero, martial arts expert or extra-ordinary person by just looking at him nor is it implied either. However, what comes out of this man who is thrust into a do or die situation makes us join him and join him we do. You may find yourself wanting get up and start running when he does. Edge of your seat at times, tense, gripping and a good story. A real scary moment, without revealing details is made known which is: What do you do when the police are corrupt and your word has to go against them? Another poignant point is having to watch a pregnant woman at risk and harm, who is so vulnerable enduring what no pregnant woman should. The viewers emotions are activated, captured and then taken hostage right along into the movie. The ending doesn't end when you think it will and then we are satisfied. Look for the grin on the mans face at the end. It says it all... along with a question he answered put to him by his wife. Well done! Ah, a entertainment delight. Eat if you want to while watching, but remember to chew your food. Definitely a snack movie too. Why is it that Hollywood cannot get this consistent with their work? Until they do, look to France and others do remind us

Male nurse as reluctant action hero--who would have thought that this would work, and work so well at that. This is another in a string of recent French films that seem to be strongly influenced by traditional American action movies. I just hope the French know when to stop with this trend and don't lose their Frenchness. If all else fails, at least Asians are currently blowing Hollywood action flicks out of the water, so there's still somewhere else to go. The plot is reasonably original and the action starts quickly and doesn't let up until the end. Strangely, for me at least, the movie seemed longer than its run time (which didn't bother me at all because it was very good), probably because there is so much crammed into it. Overall, a really solid action/thriller with some unique twists and solid performances throughout.

point blank doesn't have very deep characters (but still it's amazing how the dramatic scenes work) , nor a huge complex plot, and it's not about metaphors or cultural references. It's a fast paced action ride, that changes all the time, that knows very well how to manage their timings in the scenes. It's really a cool action flick, and you realize how short it is when it ends. It was conceived as a thrill fun, short ride, an after that you just take a deep breath, because you saw people running during the 80 minutes. It's not the most amazing film ever, but if you look for a nice film keeping you on the edge of the seat, this is widely recommended.

The French are rather talented in making fast action movies, the most known - directly or via remakes - are connected with the name of Luc Besson. But apart from him, there are dozens of good filmmakers whose production remains within the French-speaking countries or a bit wider - in the event of topical French film days or similar. Anyway, À bout portant is an interesting and well taken action by Fred Cavayé, with a strong and versatile cast, leading by Gilles Lellouche, Roschdy Zem and Gérard Lanvin. There are some clichés and repeating scenes, but they do not become annoying as the past is fast and multidimensional - and the total length of the film is 1 hour 15 minutes only. The ending has also several layers; thus, the film is surely for them who like rapid twists, chases on foot, double-dealing characters etc.
