A Disappointing Continuation

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This is a really good movie. I watch a lots of horror movies. Reading the reviews for this one, I always skipped it in favor of the more adult related ones. Big mistake.Deadgirl is an awesome movie that keeps you glued to your seat. There was probably only once or twice during the entire movie that I thought about something other than the movie. That's how you know it's good!It's about a group of teenagers that discover a living dead girl in an abandoned insane asylum. She can't die, and they learn that if she bites you, you remain immortal too. The teens have sex with her before they discover this though. I don't know. You cannot properly explain this movie to portray how great it is.What enthuses me most is that the storyline is so basic and stupid. But watching it, it has no real deep philosophical analysis of life nor are the characters' lives anything but ordinary. And yet I couldn't stop watching. Can't explain it.Really really good stuff.7 Stars

Bullying jocks v disaffected stoners in a high school, with an other-side-of-the-tracks love interest playing along.Dull, but the zombie concept could have brought out some interesting twists.The dialogue was weak and I didn't like any of the characters. The hero especially was an ineffectual whiner, and the ending showed him up as completely worthless. JT was good as a sociopath, but there was no background for him except his resentment at being scum of the earth.The writers struggled to create drama, so they tossed in an uninspired punch-up and kidnapping to move the plot along. With half an hour left it turned into a fairly good comedy, as it looked like JT was falling in love with the zombie, with a funny fight scene in a gas station. But that fizzled out and it went back to being serious. There wasn't even an attempt to explain the zombie - she arrived and left a complete mystery, which made the fate of her victims pointless.As for the sex ... well, the idea is unpleasant for various reasons, but there's nothing graphic.

VERY MINOR SPOILER ABOUT BEGINNING. Not at all what I expected. I started this movie thinking it would be more about the classic "what would you do if no one was watching" nature of the human psych. I did assume eventually it would get to the subject of rape. Instead the movie basically starts with one character raping the girl. The first half of the movie is basically characters conflicting over to rape / release the girl. Not really the social commentary I had expected. The second half really picks up though, and pushes the movie into the positive side. The first half of the movie is probably a 3 out of 10, but the second half is closer to a 7.I won't ruin it, but not sure how well the final scene really fit in with the rest of the movie, but it could be taken as a piece of social commentary.

"Dead Girl" begins thusly: Ricky and J.T., two teens from the wrong side of the tracks are killing time outside, and decide to have a few beers. It's a hot day, and apparently they live in a town without trees, because J.T. suggests they retire to the town's old, dilapidated mental asylum to for shade -- a strong case for carrying of the parasol if I've ever heard one! Once inside, they come across a door barricaded shut, force it open, and find a young woman gagged, and bound to a table. Naturally, they decide to use her as a rape-slave, but all is not as simple as it seems... I'll stop here. If this sounds like a movie you might want to watch, I don't want to spoil anything for you. If you're one of those preachy, repressed puritans that thinks "So the protagonists of this film are rapists? Not even some sort of deranged, Law and Order: S.V.U.-type rapists driven by some pathological compulsion (that could maybe at least be interesting), but just regular guys who find someone tied up, and think, 'What should I do? I KNOW - RAPE! This is my lucky day?' Casual rapists? Are there even casual rapists? I don't think if I'll be able to sympathize with the characters in this movie." Well then you're probably right. I felt the same way, and when paranormal forces started to make things dicey for the fellas, I couldn't be bothered to be interested whether they survived or not. They had it coming.I did give it a three stars, because it's not shot on videotape and the sound matches the picture.
