In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it's too late.

I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

Started out halfway desent, but went off the rails really quickly.... I just wanted it to be over, and some subplots never went anywhere... Worst thing about the movie, the monsters were throw together in a hodgepodge of parts, they tried to be clever on a few plot twist, that were generic, really lame lines delivered by the characters. What was up with the characters randomly having delusional views of reality around them was never explained.. And why did the nurse turn homicidal early on in the film, never made sense... And the actual void in the movie never made sense, and what happened to all the followers I'm the end of the movie, they just disappeared!!!!

Shortly after delivering a patient to an understaffed hospital, a police officer experiences strange and violent occurrences seemingly linked to a group of mysterious hooded figures. Despite some terrific special effects with the monsters (one looked like the thing from Alien Resurrection and the other looked like the Mummy from the first 2 Fraser flicks) but with those props aside 'The Void' is a cheap knock off of The Thing and other horror flicks and it has some horrible perfomances in it alongside with some generic problems that this genre has in general. Overall not worth it as a whole except the special effects. (3/10)

Had I realised that IMDb had gone back to allowing you to read 1-star reviews, I probably would never have given this utter dross a go. Unfortunately, I read the reviews in the order they want you read them. Having watched about 45 minutes of this unwatchable crap, I've turned it off. Everything in this film is terrible. The whole thing is overlaid with a hideous screeching soundtrack, which I think is meant to represent madness and chaos, but actually started to induce those in me. The acting is so bad that at one point I expected the old duffer playing the aged doctor in the white coat (yes, a white-coated doctor, just in case you didn't get who he was) to start spouting Shakespearean lines he was so hammy. So, a huge demon sprouts from the dead body of a murdered nurse in this near-empty hospital. It's hacked down after killing a few more of the cast (maybe he was an acting critic too), and yet no one really discusses this? A woman having a baby is more of an impending threat than the huge fricking demon you've just seen? There is nothing good about this. Nothing. Do not waste your time.

I'm floored by the poor reception this movie got. It's a loving throwback to horror classics with modern polish, clearly influenced by HP Lovecraft and body horror classics like Hellraiser and The Thing. If you like "classic" horror - i.e., horror before CGI and jump scares replaced practical effects and slow dread - you owe it to yourself to watch this movie. It does drag a little bit at the end, but the opening and middle are fantastic. I would have given this movie a 10/10 if the denouement had been done more efficiently. But honestly, it's very watchable right up to the credits. This movie has some of the best damn body horror I have EVER seen, period. I don't know how much of it was accomplished by practical effects, but it does seem like a lot. The acting is mostly good, and the pacing, while slower than most modern horror movies, is brisk enough that I didn't get bored. I really wish horror movies like this were still getting made.
