It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Pretty descent movie....i will not say that it is one of the best movies but also not a bad one..The story of Sophia and Luke is very simple but the second one is mind blowing...yes the story of Iris and Ruth..Luke is a Bull rider and wants to be the no 1 in world..One day at a bull riding event,he accidentally meets Sophia, a student of arts...Both fall in love and give us sensual romance through out the movie. On their first date, they meet an old man called Iris..His love story has also been traced back in the movie. The essence of this movie is unconditional love.and that, you have to sacrifice for your love..In the movie, both love stories go parallel..One of Luke and Sophia. Other one of Iris and Ruth. Both Sophia and Luke are two different individuals and have their own dreams for Life..Both find themselves caught up in strange situation where they neither want to lose each other.. nor any one of them wants to give up his ambition...So,who should sacrifice and why?In the old story, unconditional love has been depicted practically.both Ruth and Iris made innumerable sacrifices for each other and even they gave up their greatest ambitions to remain as a family..and to remain together..They loved each other more than anything else in this world. The locations and scenes in the movie are breathtaking. Story is good..drama is great..Bull riding is thriller.Art is also good to watch...You will not find these things very often in any movie's story line..Besides all odds you will really enjoy the movie...

I kindly gave this three stars because 1) I love bull riding 2) I love cowboys 3)Scottie is a hottie. I will point out that I found the editing horrible, the acting uncomfortable (Ms Robertson seems confused when it came to reacting to certain situations, though I confess I did kind of meanly enjoy watching her struggle to emote at moments) and the story line is boringly similar to most of Sparks books from what I've heard. This was my first encounter with one of the sappiest, cookie cutter writers out there.I can't say I regret seeing it(again,LOVE bull riding) but the saying "Ignorance is bliss" did come to mind when I finished it.

After watching The Choice,I gave another new Nicholas Sparks movie a try with The Longest Ride. It stars the diminutive but lovely Britt Robertson and Dirty Harry's good-looking son,Scott Eastwood. It tells a story about a romance between a professional bull rider and a college art student and how their romantic story was further developed when they save an old man from an accident. Alan Alda, Lolita Davidovich and Oona Chaplin co-stars.Luke Wilson got injured in bull riding. As he was about to recover at North Carolina,he meets Sophia Danko and romance starts to develop.Their love story becomes interesting as they save Ira Levinson from an accident while they were on the road going home from their first date. Both get to know more about Ira as he was recovering from the hospital and they get to learn about his story particularly the romance between him and his late wife,Ruth. Both stories are being told simultaneously as the film progresses.Screenwriter Craig Bolotin makes an effort to provide an interesting story but to no avail especially for movie viewers aren't fans for romance stories. It was obvious that the story was far from original as we have seen them in other movies before.Too bad that the stories of Luke and Sophia as well as Ira and Ruth have a lot of contrivances that one may find it silly and annoying. No question that it was emotionally manipulative particularly as Luke and Sophia manages to make life-changing decisions for the sake of their relationship.Do I need to mention the ending wherein Luke bids on a simple portrait where nobody is interested in?Too bad that even the bull riding aspect of the story did not provide any interest at all.The characters were also simply one-dimensional as well that they don't provide any interest in the film.In the end,it was simply another typical Nicholas Sparks story that were seen in the previous films that were adapted particularly The Notebook.Only people who are into romantic films would find this enjoyable and entertaining no matter how many times they have seen the same story in previous romantic films before whether they were written by Sparks or not.

I was a good distraction watching that movie. Cinematography going over North Carolina beautiful scenery with green meadows and idyllic lakes was very impressive. Acting was also persuasive by two protagonist beautiful couples twin crossing the decades. But there was no point other but a general odd to eternal, true love that overcomes obstacles. Those last, were not persuasive at all. Loving painting art and rodeos doesn't make an obstacle - since dependent couple didn't care as they pass a very good time in the ranch riding, watching bull fighting, passing time together in the cozy Texas-style ranch. As for the first couple – the older one, Ruth comes back to her husband Ira not caring about "poetic permission's" injuries of the past. Movie recommended for the very good acting of the two young couples and the beautiful landscape scenery - skillfully filmed, issued to a very good cinematography and that's all.
