Redundant and unnecessary.

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) is going more and more Hollywood as her alter-ego popstar Hannah Montana. Vita (Vanessa Williams) is her PR person. Miley gets into a fight with Tyra Banks over a pair of shoes causing tabloid headlines. She shows up at Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment)'s birthday party as Hannah Montana and causes chaos. She blows off her grandmother Ruby (Margo Martindale)'s birthday for an awards show in New York. Her father Robby Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus) redirects the plane to go home to Crowley Corners, Tennessee for two weeks. Travis Brody is a cute guy from her childhood. Robby Ray falls for Lorelai (Melora Hardin). Tabloid reporter Oswald Granger (Peter Gunn) tracks them to Crowley Corners. Land developer Mr. Bradley (Barry Bostwick) is trying to take over parts of the town to build his shopping mall. This was released somewhere in the third season of the TV show. The actors get to go outside. The concert is bigger. The story tries to do something about the importance of family and community. I like going back to Tennessee. It's a lot of the similar tone as the TV show. There is a section where the movie misses Lilly. Oliver Oken and Rico have small roles. Robby Ray doesn't need the love connection. It's great to have Margo Martindale. There's a little performance from Taylor Swift as a down home country singer. Hannah Montana fans will like this and it's rather harmless.

not really good, but still entertaining and worth watching.did not turn out what i thought it would be and certainly not Miley's best but still it was not bad,nor good,it was alright,i am a big fan of Miley Cyrus and have been watching the show since 7.but the movie was disappointing, watching the trailer was exciting but to be absolutely truthful, the movie was just okay and not ''great'',so i think this movie could have done better but did'not.Billy Ray was in the movie and i thought he would be great at first ,and Jason Eales was excellent and Miley was okay too,Emily was fabulous, like always,so i think the movie was not perfect, but certainly not a complete fail.

I will admit outright first, I do not like the show at all really, because I find it mainly unfunny and feel apart from two or three actors the acting is not good. So I wasn't expecting much when I saw Hannah Montana:The Movie out of curiosity, and while I do think it is a marginal improvement over the show, that isn't saying much. The scenery is sometimes very nice, but I felt the editing was choppy in places. I also don't really like the soundtrack that much. Butterfly Fly Away was sweet, but I do not like The Climb at all, mostly because the lyrics are really uninspired and Miley Cyrus's vocals were rather forced for my liking. What else didn't I like about the movie? Well, there was the clichéd plot line, with one too many predictable turns. There was a weak script, that tried to be funny or touching but failed, and a very dull romance. Then there is the message, for me this is one of the most hypocritical messages I have seen in a film in a long time. I can't say anything good about the acting or direction either. The direction is simplistic, while Miley Cyrus verges on painful to watch. Emily Osment tries her hardest, but is given literally nothing to do, while Billy Ray Cyrus should stick to singing than acting. And Barry Bostwick needn't have bothered really, he is a good actor, but with such a poorly written character he is wasted.Overall, it is a waste of time. By all means you can see it and like it, but to be honest I didn't think much of this. 2/10 Bethany Cox

I just want to start of by saying that this was not an all bad movie. I am a 20 year old male, and maybe like some of you I love to watch movies in all shapes, forms and colors. This movie has had a lot of complaint, on this forum as well as others. Well as many others have stated before me, its target audience is not adults! So if you don't get it, don't beat yourself up about it. Another complaint has been Mileys (and maybe others) acting in this movie. I can agree that on the show Hannah Montana they lack great acting (Except maybe Mitchel Musso and Mosies Arias). But in this movie the acting was nothing half bad. In fact I find the acting good. There isn't much to blame. I mean Miley Cyrus plays Miley Stewart, a character based on her and Billy Ray plays Robbie Ray who is also based on him. They play as themselves and no one is too much or to short on acting. The plot is decent enough simple for a children's movie but although not very original. It's a feel good film with good messenges about the ups and downs of things, and as the whole show it deals with "To follow your heart" and "Do the right thing". Might not be original, but messenges like it is needed, because although over exposed very few people follow the advice. I know watching Hannah Montana as a whole has changed me in many ways even though I always "hated" it all before I actually took time to watch it. I recommend the move to all ages and sexes but keep an open mind and think hard about what is said and you might come out wiser than before.
