Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (2014)

To me, this movie is perfection.

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

Wrong Turn 6: Yet another tale of horrendous hillbillies in the Appalachians. Guy inherits a resort/hotel in West Virginia and travels to it with a posse of friends. Dark deeds are taking place there, we see a member of a visiting group felled by a flying hatchet, already we've observed a pair cycling through the forest cut down with arrows. These aren't your average hillbillies though, more inbred than most they look as frightening as anything you would find in South West Kerry (Healy Raes) or rural Norfolk, oh, they're cannibals as well.The hotel is run by a weird young couple who we soon discover are in league with the inbred cannibals. They have a plan for the inheritor which involves him staying and literally injecting new blood for the area. The other visitors can stay for dinner or rather be dinner. Good Hillbilly Horror. 7/10. On Horror Channel.

A sudden and mysterious inheritance brings Danny and his friends to Hobb Springs, a forgotten resort deep in the West Virginia hills. Hobb Springs is being looked after under the watchful care of Jackson and Sally. Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort is just as stupid, disgusting and horrendous as the last few sequels have been since the original plus the dumb cannibals are being controlled by a dumb teenager so that's smart and we've never seen that before right? This movies get worse and worse with each sequel and if a 7th one gets made? It will do the same.

Judging from my other reviews, you would not think that horror films would be my thing, especially very gory ones. Actually aim to have a diverse taste in film, so seeing films from all decades and genres with no bias intended. Plus have seen my fair share of horror franchises where at least one film has been good.While neither of the first two 'Wrong Turn' films were perfect or great, they were fun and effectively creepy films with a lot to recommend. The series went seriously downhill from the third film onward, with the fifth film being especially bad. In 'Bloody Beginnings', 'Bloodlines' and this, the flaws from 'Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead' are exactly the same, amplified and then more are made on the way while not having either thing that stopped the third film from being worse. Before anybody says anything, despite the series going so drastically downhill they were all seen because every film in a film series deserves a chance regardless of critical consensus.Only Sadie Katz is anything close to acceptable, she is alluring and actually looks like she's trying. Like Camilla Arfwedson in 'Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines' however, everything else however is done so amateurishly that all her valiant efforts seem a waste.The rest of the acting is a disgrace, there was a sense that nobody was even trying and it was painful to watch. The only things the cast succeed in doing is accentuating that their very sketchily developed characters are either bland, obnoxious or both and impossible to care for. Especially when their behaviour throughout is just so stupid and illogical. The script is the cheesiest, most stilted and most cliché-ridden of all six films.Story is both derivative and takes simplicity to extremes, and ruins it further by failing to bring any kind of atmosphere to any of the components, just a lot of cheesy and predictable death scenes with lots of gratuitous gore that makes anything meant to resemble tension or terror feel nauseating or unintentionally funny. There is none of what made the first two films work, everything is just too cheap, too safe, too predictable and too clean. It had a decent premise to work from, but starts dull, un-scary and dumb and stays like that all the way instead of doing the thankful 180 that the second film did.Visually, there is nothing slick, professional, inventive or atmospheric here, slipshod is a better word for it. The effects are not as bad as in films 3-5 but are still pretty cheap. The direction has no personality or professionalism of any kind, there isn't a sense of understanding the genre or how to overcome a less than lavish budget.In conclusion, really bad. 1/10 Bethany Cox

So what can I say about this movie? I kept an open mind when it came out I watched it and kind of enjoyed it the first time around thought it was pretty decent didn't mind the acting or kills the only thing I didn't like was the hillbilly makeup I even looked past the fact that this was an incest movie I actually kind of liked the backstory the first time around not sure why then I realized this time around there was no reason and this movie actually sucks and makes no sense whatsoever so the hillbillies reside in a nice hotel and they go from there to living in a dump in the West Virginia forest? That's really believable...also this whole movie is about how they kept their family and bloodline alive by having sex with each other they sucked the main character Danny who is supposedly a family member who inherited the hotel into it and he becomes crazy and apart of it he became the master of the hillbillies as well I mean this movie is just all over the place and the incest disgusts me plus the acting sucks balls too none of these actors are known to me at all I could give it credit for some for a few of the kills except for one where the hillbillies stick a hose in the ass of one of the characters and pump water in him until he explodes it was stupid. I honestly hope they don't make a 7th one they left it open for one so it might mean they'll continue this story I hope they don't if they make a 7th at all hope it's what happened after 3 cos if it's not I'm not watching it.
