a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

There's not really much to say about this movie other than that it is exactly what you should expect from a cheesy holiday special. I mean it is awful, like it makes very little sense if any. A good portion is just Wookiee's making Wookie noises with no subtitles telling you what they are saying and they literally put a whole "how to" video in the special. It's ridiculous, but if you haven't seen it, you should see it. It's worth watching for the experience, if you can get your hands on it.

I just finished watching this god-awful thing and I can see why it never rebroadcast or was released on VHS and DVD. When I first heard about this I thought maybe it couldn't be that bad. BOY WAS I WRONG! This thing is so unwatchable I just keep begging myself to shut it off but I resisted and continued. So here is the story: Chewbacca's family (Whoever came up with the names has problems) Malla, Itchy, and Lumby are waiting for him to return to celebrate their version of Thanksgiving or Christmas (Life Day). So then we have constant shots of them talking to Luke (Who doesn't really care about them), We watch Malla doing cooking, Itchy watching a music video, and Lumby watching a cartoon about STAR WARS! So then the imperials come to look for Chewbacca but then Han Solo (Played by Harrison Ford who looks like someone forced him to be in this by pointing a gun to his head) brings Chewbacca home and they finally celebrate Life Day. I wish I could got back in time and stop myself from watching this. This thing is awful. If you are a Star Wars fan do yourself and George Lucas (Who also hated this) a nice favor and stay far, far away from this thing!

OK let me clarify that summary line.. As a child of 7 starving for ANYTHING Star Wars, I thought it was awesome! As an adult of 44 lucky enough to possess a copy, I still like it for what it is. It's a memory. It's a memory of a simpler time. It's a memory of the love I had for what I still consider to be the greatest movie ever made! It's a memory of longing for the next film to release. It's a memory of seeing the original Star Wars in the theater. Also watching it reminds me of the attraction pre-shows at Disney World. It just brings back so much. Though it is corny and cheesy, and low budget, I love it! I always will. I wish I had a better copy.
