It's almost graduation day for high school seniors Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Chad, Ryan and Taylor — and the thought of heading off in separate directions after leaving East High has these Wildcats thinking they need to do something they'll remember forever. Together with the rest of the Wildcats, they stage a spring musical reflecting their hopes and fears about the future and their unforgettable experiences growing up together. I don't care that it is cheesy as hell, this is still a pretty good movie. I know that is all cheesy and kind of clichéd, but it does something that very few high school movies do: actually talk about what the characters are going to do in the future. Troy's conflict, while innocent and kind of naïve, is a very real conflict. The whole series has good messages about identity and it's lost to people who find it annoying because it's a high school Disney musical. If anything, that makes it better: Disney is doing a high school movie about actual high school conflicts. "Senior Year" is not perfect, there are definitely flaws, but it is still a good film. The songs are pretty good and all of them were considered for a Best Song nomination at the Oscars, the acting is pretty good, but, most importantly, the conflicts are real. Not knowing what you to do after high school, going somewhere to do what you want to do, not letting others determine your life for you. Like I said, High School Musical was always about identity and that's a lesson that needs to be taught in high school. In a society obsessed with labels, we need at least one high school movie other than "The Breakfast Club" to teach viewers about identity. So, go ahead and make fun of it. Regardless, this movie was a phenomenon and it deserves to be that.

I own this on DVD and I actually enjoyed it. Its 100% better than the other two as the other two were boring and stupid. Plus Zac Efron couldn't even sing in the first one and he was kinda girly in the sequel. In the 3rd one of the francise the teens are getting ready for prom and moving on from high school to go to college. There is also new chacthers in this movie one of them befriends Sharpy Evans.I liked the songs in this one as they are a mixture of pop/rock. I like the song I want it all or the I just wanna be with you song or the Now or Never song which is in the beginning of the movie. The only downside I have to HSM is that Gabriella does my head in as she is so sweet and so annoying she's like a 9 year old who's always moaning and complaining. Zac Efron was alright not a fan of his but he was better in this one.It may not be the best Disney film in the world as there wasn't any good Disney movies out since The Princess & the frog and Enchanted but if you are looking for something that will pass the time and if you are looking for something where everyone is happy and jolly then check it out.I'll give it an 7/10.

Warning: This is a movie with NO story plot in the strict sense.I know that a musical kind of movie features music and dance scenes but that does not make up for the lack of content. Now all I recall from this movie is a bunch of crazy graduates flooded with adrenaline rush and dancing their way into university. Only two story elements in this movie: 1.The struggling decision-making rhapsody for Troy and his annoying girlfriend. 2. Poor Sharpay betrayed by her personal assistant (and by bloody Troy couple again). I won't call them stories that need an entire movie to tell. They are just 'drama scenes'.Even some of the Gaga MTVs, egg. 'Telephone', are more fleshy in story details than this crap. And speaking of the characters in this movie....The Troy couple are eye candies but they lack in character and are not impressive at all. And I have to air grievance for Sharpay here: The East High crew treat her like sh*t. I didn't see her ever doing anything wrong in this movie, but the East High crew continued to make fun out of her, to the point of annoying me as an audience. Sometimes I just wanna cry out loud: 'Leave her alone! I wanna see more of Sharpay singing and dancing!'She is not a dumb blonde, for god's sake. She gets real talent and deserves all her effort in pursuing her actor dreams. However, she ends up being a clown. I was very much impressed with the first one in this sequel but the last two totally sicked me away.
