Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
It is a performances centric movie
Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
After the surprise success of 'High School 1' and the smash hit that was 'High School 2' you can't blame Disney for not only wanting to continue the franchise, but also give it a big budget cinema release. The plot, as with the first two centres around a musical and the young students romantic and future plans. It involves a lot of songs (some good, some annoyingly bad) and of course, this being Disney, a squeaky clean happy ending. The acting ability of the youngsters has improved greatly, and it is clear to see why in particular Zac Efron has become the breakout star. The cast manage to carry off some of the more silly aspects of the plot well and with the conviction that it needs.I saw the extended version of this film and some of the scenes did feel a little pointless. One of the perks of the first film was that it was short and snappy. For the most iconic moments and songs then the first film in the trilogy is still the one I'd recommend, but for a fun family film this one still has a lot to enjoy.
After HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, it was announced that HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR, would be the final film in the High School Musical trilogy and it is really good amazing. The plot is very amazing and the idea of calling this film "Senior Year" was amazing because this is the end of an era and the ending to a great franchise that was created by Disney.I was really excited to see how it would turn and it was really amazing once I finally saw, but I didn't get to see it until it was released on DVD, but my sister LeeAnn saw in both the theaters and on DVD and it was really cool. The songs were really amazing and just fantastically amazing and a really darn good choreographer and director who was great and so amazingly good this time around. My favorite musical numbers is at the beginning, where the say "Now or Never, "Can I Have This Dance?", and the prom musical number, "A Night to Remember".The only song that I can't stand was "I Want It All", but the version without Sharpay in the musical show, sung only by Ryan was really cool.I love this film's story and that was a really great story to pull off because I already lost one HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL movie, and that was HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, but I have to say, for me and anyone who is a fan of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, the first film and the third film are the only ones worth watching, so HSM 2 is worth skipping if you are a fan of the franchise, but I don't have an extremely amount of problems of this film as I had one major problem with the second film. The only problems with the second film that I had were Sharpay and way too many songs. The only problems I have is once again Sharpay, the idea of Gabriella trying to leave from Troy, again, the idea of creating a villain for Sharpay, which her name is Tiara Gold and the idea of Gold trying to take the theatre department from Sharpay Evans. Those problems were the reason why I put HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR on my list of the Top 10 Overrated Movies, but it really gives me a great and satisfying conclusion. The acting is once again top-notch and Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay, still gets on my nerves, but she does not fail to deliver and incredible and intense performance that really saves this movie from being too stupid for me.The music and dancing is once again also are really cool and they are just really amazing and is really fantastic this time around and they could have not done any better.Overall, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR is good, if not better than the first one. Sure, there are some major flaws, which are the ones I just mentioned that are the reasons why the movie appears on my Top 10 Overrated Movies list on IMDb, but Disney and the Disney Channel network could have done a heck of a lot worse, but I've also seen worse from Disney.I have also seen some very bad TV shows and movies from the Disney Channel network. This film is getting an 8 out of 10.After the success of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3, there was an original idea for another HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL film, but it would not have the original cast returning, instead it would feature a brand new cast and would be titled HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: EAST MEETS WEST, but that idea would eventually scrapped.A spin-off titled SHARPAY'S Fabulous ADVENTURE, starring Ashley Tisdale as the title character and the film was not good at all and I don't plan on doing a review of it because it is just plain stupid. To this day, they have been talking about another HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL movie and with the director and the original cast returning for the fourth film and it would be a challenge to get Zac Elfron, Vanessa Hudgens, Lucas Grabeel, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Olesya Rulin and the rest of the crew back together for a fourth film and they have moved on to other and bigger things.I would love to see what HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 4 would be and I think they are actually talking about having Troy and Gabriella get married.Man, would that be a blessing to see? On the big screen? Heck, yeah. Hopefully they put as many songs as they need to in this film, but not too much because we saw what happened with the second film and I hated that one.But back to the possibility of High School Musical 4. They should call the tagline under the words "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 4", simply THE WEDDING because if Troy and Gabriella gets married, I would pay to buy it on DVD.Yet, they have said it's release date, start date of principal photography or when the film will be in development. My God, Disney better say something about HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 4 soon because it's been a long time since the last one and I really want to see the Wildcats Team back on the big screen.Well, that's it for the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL trilogy and film franchise overall. It's definitely had it's upside and downside, but I still love this trilogy. That's it for this franchise review and for right now. Thank you so much for reading and listening and I will see you next time.
I haven't seen the other HSM's but this one was bad enough. Shallow, selfish children who want everything and all the attention, the boys are poor little puppies who panda to the girls whims, and it has every cliché going including dancing in the rain. Its so awful and saccharine it made me want to smoke crack and take off the opal ring that has been branded on to my flesh. Sharpay i am sure is the name of a breed of dog, she walks around the school like a tramp, the songs are a giant catalyst for a migraine, Juliard? really has their standards gone down so much? Just about the worst kids film i have seen and the sad thing is children will watch this and think its perfectly acceptable to be 1 dimensional selfish shallow fashion conscious vague no bodies who no doubt will end up being pole dancers or meth addicts. The script is diabolical, the English girl is so wet its unreal, i am sure its racist somehow. This film should be used a torture in Iraq as water boarding would be preferable to this tripe.
Warning: This is a movie with NO story plot in the strict sense.I know that a musical kind of movie features music and dance scenes but that does not make up for the lack of content. Now all I recall from this movie is a bunch of crazy graduates flooded with adrenaline rush and dancing their way into university. Only two story elements in this movie: 1.The struggling decision-making rhapsody for Troy and his annoying girlfriend. 2. Poor Sharpay betrayed by her personal assistant (and by bloody Troy couple again). I won't call them stories that need an entire movie to tell. They are just 'drama scenes'.Even some of the Gaga MTVs, egg. 'Telephone', are more fleshy in story details than this crap. And speaking of the characters in this movie....The Troy couple are eye candies but they lack in character and are not impressive at all. And I have to air grievance for Sharpay here: The East High crew treat her like sh*t. I didn't see her ever doing anything wrong in this movie, but the East High crew continued to make fun out of her, to the point of annoying me as an audience. Sometimes I just wanna cry out loud: 'Leave her alone! I wanna see more of Sharpay singing and dancing!'She is not a dumb blonde, for god's sake. She gets real talent and deserves all her effort in pursuing her actor dreams. However, she ends up being a clown. I was very much impressed with the first one in this sequel but the last two totally sicked me away.
