For those who dont know much about France during the II WW is of compulsory watch. It is somehow a must-see. It is also not difficult to follow and not boring, nice music and has a good pace. I would rate in the range of 7/10.

In the summer of 1942 more than 12,000 French Jews were delivered to the Nazi. They were locked at the Vélodrome d'Hiver for several days without food or water or sanitation. It was up to Red Cross nurses, like Annette Monod (Mélanie Laurent), and Dr. Sheinbaum (Jean Reno) to care for the prisoners and mitigate their suffering.La Rafle is not a film about the deportation of Jews and the horror of the concentration camps with Hitler's Final Solution. This film is powerful testimony to the denaturalization of French Jews, the appalling conditions of the Vel d'Hiv, the lack of resistance of the French police as well as the existence of the French camps.

this movie captures the emotions of the persecuted beautifully...everyone needs to watch movies like this to make sure that atrocities do not repeat themselves...this movie is a must see...what more could one want in a movie. THere are very few movies i have found that seem to provide the realism that this has achieved. The acting is outstanding-- the characters are believable and portray despair and hope in a way that has to have an impact on the viewer. With all the garbage out there and almost pointless action movies that are for entertainment purposes only and are soon forgotten after they are viewed--this one has an impact on the viewer that is long lasting. When compared to other movies out there, this one shines in comparison. again i repeat this is a must see....hope this helps

An exceptional film that will probably be seen by hundreds while thousands watch fodder light years inferior in the Multiplexes of several continents. Alas, there is nothing new in the story which is completely factual but it is one that, for perhaps obvious reasons, has remained largely unaddressed by French filmmakers although - possibly on the strength of this we had Sarah's Key working the same side of the street last year. Rose Bosch, whom was previously known to me only as the writer of En plein coeur, has written and directed a very fine, very moving film in which every performer, adult and child, deserves individual mention albeit that is impossible. There are only four 'names' to speak of and one of those (Sylvie Testud, who has just directed her own first movie) disappears after about six reels and Gad Elmalah is not far behind. Although Jean Reno is top-billed it is Melanie Laurent who gets the lion's share of screen time and is apparently the only one of the four to survive the war. Reno is superb in a role - a Jewish doctor - light years away from his 'tough' image and Laurent merely supplements her growing and glowing reputation. A wonderful film.
