Simply A Masterpiece

Memorable, crazy movie

Good movie but grossly overrated

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

This movie is nothing but slapstick, stupid pratfalls, and gross jokes. I regret buying it, I regret the time I spent watching it, and I will never watch it again. The storyline is sad and unbelievable with nonprofit he Malory whatsoever. The acting is bad, there are dozens of sad stereotypes, and it was not NOT funny. Do NOT watch this horrible movie.

I'm reviewing a decade old film. This kind of themes is very much done for the current era, particularly in Hollywood. You can't believe this guy did a film like this back then. I'm obviously talking about Ryan Reynolds. It was just for fun, other than that there's nothing to expect from it. Clearly we know how the story begins and ends, but we're only going to see the middle parts, how they developed it, especially the comedies.All the actors were decent, particularly Amy Smart was much preferred actress than what she's now. Ryan Reynolds with those dual getups was not bad either and Anna Faris was excellent in the comedy parts. Maybe it is a chick film, or close to that category, but the perspective of the story was from a man.Being a geek in the high school, how he transformed into a handsome man is the film. When he visits his hometown, all the old memories comes back to the life, particularly after seeing his old close friend who he had a crush on her, but never revealed it. So it is like his second and probably final chance to express his feeling. How it all develops and ends was the remaining story.Being a comedy, it has not delivered anything big. It might have effected good way, if I had watched when it came out. So not everyone who watches it would end up happily. It is not easy to suggest this film for everybody, but if you're looking for a comedy, some comedy, it will work okay. And again, don't take it seriously, even some of the jokes are too ordinary, but tried its best. An average comedy, but a good time pass film.5/10

Just Friends stars Ryan Reynolds in a fat suit who plays Chris, the nice high school nerd who wants to declare his love for hot babe Jamie (Amy Smart) at the graduation party.Jamie likes Chris only as a friend which means platonic only relationship, no sex. Feeling humiliated Chris leaves his New Jersey town vowing never to return.Ten years later, Chris is a successful musical executive. He is thin, rich, handsome and a womaniser. However when he is sent to sign an emerging but spoilt pop star (Anne Faris) ends up in his home town with her when the plane is forced to make an emergency landing.Chris hooks up with his old friends, some are older, fatter and balding. He also sees Jamie and plans to impress her but it always ends up in disaster and humiliation for Chris.Just Friends is an easy going and charming comedy with a few good laughs. It is really a starring vehicle for Reynolds which did OK but not brilliantly in the box office.Reynolds hams it up in the fat suit, sings Backstreet Boys songs but even when thin, he cannot escape his past nerdiness which rather inverts this type of film where the geek becomes the Greek god.

I usually quite like romantic comedies, as they are a nice light entertainment after a stressful workday. This movie, however, was not enjoyable at all. The jokes were so predictable, and what is worse, several times during this movie I caught myself thinking "This cannot possibly get any more stupid" but I was proved wrong every single time. May be it would be a nice entertainment after a few drinks but in any other situation I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Unless you really feel the urge to throw away two hours of your life. The only positive aspect about this movie was the good-looking female main character :)
