Wonderful Movie
Why so much hype?
Pretty Good
Boring
Zombeavers is a typical B-movie slasher with gorgeous looking girls, immature boyfriends and killer beavers. It will appeal to everyone that enjoy comedy/horror genre, although this film does not offer any real horror but it does manage to be funny and entertaining. The story, of course, is absolutely ridiculous but Zombeavers never pretends to be anything more than it is. The writing is actually quite witty, the opening scene with Bill Burr will definitely make you laugh and the acting is just right for this type of a film. I believe that it deserves a higher rating and I would recommended it to anyone that is into this type of films with knowing exactly what to expect and have a few laughs along the way.
First,i think many people who first know about this film would think this is just another typical stupid, cheap with some hot chicks, and boobs and stupid girls like me but no.I gave this film a chance and to be honest,i was surprised. This film is nothing new,of course but its really fun and smarter than most of so call horror movies these days You must admit the idea of a zombeaver is pretty weird but somehow creative. The zombeavers look pretty fake but what you expected from an indie like this? The movie itself doesn't have many gore scenes, but when it happens, its pretty gross and bloody painful to watch. The acting is pretty decent,i think Rachel Melvin was good as she did in Dumb and Dumber too. There are two things i don't really like about this film.First is there aren't really a likable character and second is the ending.Otherwise, this was a fun time for me.I would give this film a 7 but due to the underrated rating it got i gave it a 10 because i think this film deserves at least a 5.0 - 5.5.Overall a good film to kill some free time,
I had waited for this movie for quite awhile and was thrilled and excited to Watch it, especially after having seen the trailer. The story in "Zombeavers" is fairly generic as horror movies go: a group of young people go to a remote lake for some partying and things go awry. And what was supposed to be fun and games becomes a matter of life and death. But thrown in a bunch of zombie beavers and things are turned up a notch. These zombie beavers were somewhat fake, visually, but also hilarious, which just added to the enjoyment of the movie.Sure, the movie was predictable in every aspect, but the combination of horror and comedy worked well and I was quite entertained by this movie. The acting in the movie was good, although I can't really claim to be overly familiar with the cast as such, aside from Rex Linn. That being said, I will go on to saying that the people did perform well enough in "Zombeavers", which was a nice thing, as it did elevate the movie experience. And the aspect of having zombie beavers did bring about a fresh of breath air to the zombie genre. I am sure that many will not find it enjoyable, but I did, and it entertained me quite well. I think it is good when the movie-makers manage to pull off new takes on the zombie genre, especially when it works as well as it did in "Zombeavers".If you enjoy zombie comedies such as "Dead Alive" or "Shaun of the Dead" then you will also like "Zombeavers".
In the intro two goofs are transporting some tanks of toxic material. They run over a dear. In the process one of the tanks falls off the truck and into a lake near a beaver dam.Three girls spend a weekend out in the country near said lake. One of them is the sweet likable girl, the other one just broke up with her guy (there's always one of those in the movies,) the other one is annoying and doesn't care about anything. It's supposed to be a girl-only getaway but it doesn't take long for the guys to arrive. When they go swimming in the lake a beaver bites off one of the guy's feet. They barely make it back to shore. Inside the house is another wild beaver. They learn that it won't die, it's a zombie beaver.Soon unfortunately it gets dark and zombeavers are everywhere. Some of the kids try to escape but the beavers chop down trees and block the road. They run into an armed hunter who helps and they escape to the neighbors' house who are already dead. The others back at the house board up the doors and windows but the beavers break though the floor. From here you would think that it's just a matter of the kids trying to survive the beaver attack for the night. But there are actually some neat surprises that I didn't expect.Zombeavers is a short movie. For no good reason it tries to be one of those lame teen gross-out comedies. They could easily have gone for straight horror, it's not like this movie is so tasteless that they had to dress it up as a comedy to make it palatable. After all, despite all the innuendo things are fairly tame. There is no rampant graphic nudity, but there is male genitalia for some reason. Female full frontal nudity is nowhere in sight and pretty much extinct from horror movies. Another problem are the dislikable characters. Most of them are just lousy people. You can't wait for almost all of them to be torn to pieces. Rachel Melvin and her character Mary is likable but some male character who survives the longest is just insufferable. They way these people treat each other is also hard to stomach. The music is far too ambitious with the usual awful orchestration that is so generic it makes the movie boring.Despite all this, the movie is enjoyable. There are a lot of shots that are nods to classic horror movies and that horror buffs will easily recognize. There is some gore, a bit of nudity, and just an enthusiastic spirit that is lacking in most horror.Overall an entirely respectable effort that could have easily been improved. It just falls short of something that could have reached minor cultstatus.
