Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The stupid bitch of a daughter was too dumb. Got herself caught up because she's a damn brat. It took away from the whole movie. I watched another movie with her and she's the same dumb fool. Stop giving her roles. I can't even take the time to learn her name. The movie itself is bearable without her.

This movie fails in the first 10 minutes. I switched it off immediately. We see a man (presumably the protagonist) and his assistant in a high-tech lab presenting their investigation into a number of CIA-created super-security devices which they use to keep America safe. He demonstrates they all have fatal flaws and that his team were able to defeat all of them, using some scientific tools and techniques. None of these are even remotely credible, as any engineer or scientist would attest, but OK, suspend disbelief. Then he reveals privately to the head of the CIA team that all of the devices are at risk BECAUSE NO PATENTS HAVE BEEN REGISTERED.Does not a single person associated with the movie know what a Patent is? To register a patent, you must publish a detailed explanation of the device to show that it is unique, and that it is based on original work. Not only does it not keep the invention secret, it actually publishes exactly what it is and how it works, IT GUARANTEES THAT THE WORK IS EXPLAINED IN DETAIL TO ANYONE IN THE WORLD WHO ASKS FOR A COPY.A patent only protects an invention commercially. If someone else claims the same invention as their own and tries to sell devices using the patented design or process, the patent owner can force them to stop production, and also sue for damages. The very countries that the CIA would want to stop, China Russia, North Korea and so on, are immune from patent claims because they simply do not acknowledge the authority of the US Patent office, or any US Laws.To keep an invention secret, one has to do exactly that, tell no one how it works, even those who are manufacturing it. And definitely NOT Patent it.

The expatriate and widower Ben Logan (Aaron Eckhart) has moved from New York to Anrwep with his estranged teenage daughter Amy Logan (Liana Liberato) to work for the technology corporation Halgate Group. When he breaks a sophisticated security code from a device, he notes that its patent has no record in Halgate and he calls the attention of his boss Derek Kohler (Neil Napier). Ben meets Amy and they do not go home; later Ben goes with Amy to his office and they find it completely empty. Further, all the records of his phone calls, e-mails, payslip and bank account have vanished. Out of the blue, a coworker abducts Ben and Amy in the bank but Ben kills him in self-defense. Ben finds a key from a locker in the Central Station and he finds photos of his daughter, himself and his coworkers. His further investigation shows that all the workers are dead in the morgue except Derek Kohler. Soon Ben discovers a huge conspiracy of Halgate Group relative to illegal arms sales to Africa with the involvement of rogue CIA agents. But Ben is in disgrace with the Agency and does not have any reliable contact to recur. The unoriginal "Erased", a.k.a."The Expatriate", is an action thriller with a promising and intriguing beginning. Unfortunately the stupid and annoying daughter Amy with her silly attitudes makes any viewer lose the temper. The story has many flaws and holes, but the plot is fast-paced and distracts the viewer that is not aware. For example, the killers kill a lot of residents in Belgium; Ben blows-up the car with important guys; the police is chasing Ben and Amy; and he arrives at the airport dirty and ready to embark to the USA and probably without documents. My vote is six.Title (Brazil): "Perseguição Implacável" ("Relentless Manhunt")

Oh, no - Jason Bourne has only gone and been set up again. Now he finds himself and his teenage daughter pursued across Europe by one team of hit men after the next. Wait, that can't be right. Oh, yes, I remember - someone else Liam Neeson sort of know has been 'taken' and now he and his teenage daughter find them chased by shadowy hit men as they're chased across Europe.Okay, maybe not, but that's not too far from the truth. What you have here is a basic Bourne/Taken clone with all the elements you'd expect, i.e. car chases, shootouts, hit men, rogue CIA agents, government conspiracies and setting up of the innocent. If you feel you can sit through another one of those types of times, then give this one a go. For all its unoriginality, it's not that bad.The Expatriate plays out exactly how you'd expect it. There are no hidden surprises here. Chase. Escape. Repeat. That's it. Only here you have Aaron Eckhart doing his best to pretend that what he's doing is somehow original and not just a straight-to-DVD rip-off of a more famous franchise.Nothing bad here, but nothing original. Of course... if you have never seen a Bourne/Taken film, you might love this all the more!http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/
