An actor with a thousand faces, Myungjun Hwang, and the old master, Minshik Choi, who is one of Director Kwontaek Im's favorite actors, keep you glued to the screen. Aside from the fantastic acting, the dialogue (full of the worst cuss words, like in Quentin Terentino movies), suspenseful action sequences, impressive movie sets, the Chinese twist, fully developed characters, and great English subtitle all work together to break the monotony of what could have been another cookie-cutter stereotypical gangster movie. Though I do not normally cuss, these cuss words were so creative, I could not stop laughing. I am so glad I chose this over Amistad for a relaxing evening.

I watch Asian all foreign movies. My favorite movie of all time. The best ending of all time. I really like how solid the friendship was in it. My best friend died the day i got home after being away 4 years i have never had another like him. Maybe why i like it so much. I like I Saw the Devil to. I like this director as he makes it seem so real.No foolishness in it. Just a great movie all around.I do not know what else to say OK 10 lines already.Wow.I am about to give up. The fight scenes are incredible. The friendship incredible. The ending incredible. This is hard for a dump person like me enough already.I can not get 10 lines.I am trying and its hard for a brain damaged person.Crazy hard.

Frankly, I'll go a long way to see a Korean movie. While this film doesn't quite have the exuberance or originality of some recent examples, it is an entertaining example of the Asian cops vs gangsters format. But the field is very well stocked, and to be fair this film ticks the boxes without standing out. The acting and direction of the main protagonists keeps the important development tight, while allowing for those languorous scenes that Hollywood directors remove. But the characters are so watchable, even when fishing in a warehouse, and cursing each other in a language I understand none of. There are a couple of notably stylish action sequences, as well as slightly too many standard scenes (funeral, boardroom, hospital etc) that we are all too familiar with. If you have seen Infernal Affairs, then you won't struggle to follow the plot. Korean cinema is now big enough to carry the merely good along with the excellent. And while this effort should be enjoyed in that vein.
