It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

This follow-up to 'Smokin' Aces' has no real connection to original film; it is however similar in that both involve a large number of rival assassins targeting one man. That one man is Walter Weed, a mid-ranking FBI agent who is confined to a wheelchair and has no access to top secret information... an odd target for a $3,000,000 bounty. That isn't the only strange thing about the hit; it is stipulated that Weed must die at 3am on the 19th of April. He and a team of FBI protectors take cover in a protected bunker under a Chicago jazz club while the assorted killers close in on the location. As they wait for the appointed hour the FBI struggle to discover who placed the contract and why.I thought this film got off to a great start; I was immediately hooked by the question of just why anybody would want to kill an apparently unimportant FBI agent at such a specific time. The introduction to the various assassins is also handled well and they are a suitably mixed bunch. Things then get a little messy; the bunker under the jazz club may be pretty cool but it isn't a logical place for the FBI to hide Weed; surely a remote facility would make more sense. Once the assassins start their attack; both on the facility and each other, things get rather silly... admittedly this is deliberate with red-neck assassins launching exploding clowns into the club! The ultimate explanation as to why Weed is being targeted wasn't a complete surprise but it was still interesting and led to a decent conclusion. Overall I'd say that this wasn't as good as the original film but if you want some action you could do worse.

This movie really had some potential. They had actors that have been known to be very decent. But this script was absolute garbage, the quips and humor was dull and stupid, and the protagonist of the film is stale and not very believable. At the end of this movie I found myself wondering what the point of this was. Don't get me wrong, I'm an action junkie and I enjoy intentionally stereotypical, over the top, comic bookish characters, but these were terrible. The only two assassins you get interested in are killed off in the blink of an eye leaving the stupidest ones left to finish the movie. One group of assassins is a clan of biker/redneck… people. Their clothing looks so new I cant take them seriously. They end up stealing a circus trailer so they can use the cannon to launch live clowns strapped with dynamite into a building. It almost sounds funny but it's shot horrendously. Which leads me to my next point. Don't use explosions if you can't do them right. These were the worst effects I've seen in a long time. There were unnecessary scenes where you could tell they used a green screen; many of them were used while the redneck clan was driving around. This was just all around disappointing. Which is a shame because the locations, lighting, and choreography for some of these shootouts were absolutely gorgeous! That is the only thing keeping me from giving this movie 1 star.

Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball is not the worst movie there is, although i allege the people affiliated with making it of trying very hard. It though is the worst movie I have personally managed to watch completely (I saw it with a good friend and after the first minutes we made something like a bearing contest out of it) and no, I couldn't endure more than a few minutes of Vercingétorix, so yes it might be worse, but that is not the point. Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball is just a very, very poorly made movie and I can't explain why there are people recommending or defending it or rating it with more than minimal one out of ten. Now that I have written all of this I'm hesitating, since I'm not sure if it will advance the films fast and eternal oblivion. But since I made the effort...

Words fail to express how truly, truly terrible this fail is. As a fan of the original, i was stoked to here that this was coming out, yet no no, at the end of this pitiful trash i was absolutely Dumbfounded. Had i seriously just seen that? i wanted my money back, better yet i wanted the hours of my life back that this god-awful movie had wasted. I just Cannot comprehend why this movie was made, i mean, it didn't even really make sense! Its as if the people who made this movie after i was done watching saying "Boom! That. Just. Happened. were we really trying? Hellllllll no, but hey! we already got your money! what the hell are You gonna do about it?" seriously people, avoid this movie at All Costs, i mean it.
