Two centuries after Snow White and Cinderella had their adventures, the Nine Kingdoms ready themselves for the coronation of Prince Wendel, Snow White's grandson, to the throne of the Fourth Kingdom. But an evil once-queen has freed herself from prison, and turns the prince into a golden retriever. Wendel, by means of a magic mirror, escapes into a hitherto-unknown Tenth Kingdom (modern day New York City) and meets Virginia and her father Tony. Pursued by trolls, cops, and a wolf in man's form, the three blunder back into the Nine Kingdoms and begin their adventures to restore Wendel to his human form and throne, and find the magic mirror that will take Tony and Virginia back home, all the while unknowing that Virginia already has a connection to the Nine Kingdoms that may prove deadly before we reach Happily Ever After.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

I found the DVD of the entire miniseries in a store last month, and I totally don't remember watching this or even seeing commercials for it when it was new, which is weird, considering that I love these kinds of shows. I'll say one thing right now: Scott Cohen blew away every other actor in the whole thing, lol. He plays a humanoid wolf, and to say that he threw himself into the role is an understatement. He'll crack you up, especially when he gasps, (which he did at least 50 times lol). He's the best part of the show. I won't say much more considering that there are so many reviews describing the show, but there is something you need to be warned about: this was filmed before 9/11, and in the fascinating opening credits, they show the NYC skyline...and the Twin Towers are in it. The sight of them sent a chill down my spine, (I watched 9/11 live all day and will never forget it) and it showed all the buildings 'falling' and being replaced by fairy tale-type structures...and near the end of the credits, after a giant steps over the bridge, the Twin Towers 'fall' too. I didn't notice that part until watching the last installment today, and the sight made me cry. If you watch this miniseries, be prepared for that very unexpected sight.

I love this movie, it goes above and beyond on attention to detail. Every stitch and scene is planned to the letter. The casting was spot on too, you can relate to pretty much every character in the movie. I love how it takes traditional fairy tales most of us grew up with and takes a whole new spin on them. I can watch ti over and over. The only drawback was it could have had a sequel, since the ending was semi open, and it never did. But even without it, it's a great story. Everyone delivers. Some things might be too scary for younger children, but the movie overall is no worse than the Grimm Fairy tales I used to read as a kid. It's a delight. You'll be hooked.

The 10th Kingdom is really an atrocious movie. I know that normally TV movies like this have lower standards and I was prepared for that. I was prepared for sub-par acting and bad special effects. But this movie is available. The acting by minor actors was unbelievable bad. But the surprising thing was actors like Dianne Wiest giving a really bad performance. I have seen a lot of movies in which she has a role, but she has never given a bad performance before.I don't know how that happens. How can good actors give such bad performances. Was the shooting rushed through? Were they not paid enough? Or did they instinctively knew that they can't save such a bad movie and decide to their worst. I sincerely don't know.I couldn't get through the whole thing. It is 7 hours long ! And frankly I was tired before the first hour was up. The story seemed very clichéd. Just a pale imitation of stuff that you had already watched elsewhere. I recommend that you avoid it at all costs.I really can't understand the good reviews. Do people have such low standards.

This movie is one of the best epic fantasy film I've ever watched!! 'Stardust' started the epic fantasy hype for me and this movie spurred the momentum even more when I watched it the second time recently. The storyline is absolutely beautiful! Just like 'Prison Break', there are lots of twists and turns in the story and that keeps you at the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. The 'hatred' and 'love' relationship between the characters is also complex and enjoyable to see. I don't understand why NBC won't pick up for a second season... I've first watched this in New Zealand actually 8 years ago but I still remember the views were really high during the airing week... The opening sequence of the movie must have been the most beautiful piece I have ever seen!! Great special effects and the idea is very original. The theme song is very touching and they couldn't have pick a better theme song. I definitely recommend you watch this if you can, you won't waste your time. If you enjoyed 'Stardust', then you'll definitely enjoy this one..!!! ^^
