if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Movie: Straw Dogs (UA)Rating: 4/5I haven't seen the original yet but was compelled to watch this film as the poster was very impressive, as was the trailer. Even though the reviews and IMDb rating both weren't very positive, I couldn't resist myself from watching it. And I was seriously impressed. I saw it dubbed in Hindi and the dubbing too was quite excellent.STRAW DOGS is an intense action thriller, and I mean it. The film is quite intense throughout, but the real intensity comes out in the heavily impressive action packed climax. James Marsden is enough of a reason to watch the film as his look is extremely amazing. He excels in the film throughout, and is a treat to watch in the climax where he shows an exactly different of what you'll have expected. Kate Bosworth is decent, though there's nothing much remarkable about the performance. Alexander Skarsgard as the antagonist is however very impressive. The visuals of the film are praiseworthy, and there's a tense feel throughout the film. The first half is engaging and decently written, and it's towards the beginning of the second hour that the intensity increases. Many sequences have been executed extremely well. The character development too needs to be highly appreciated as it has been projected skilfully and convincingly. The action sequences are, definitely a treat to watch and form a major highlight of the film. The theme music is quite good and memorable. The dialogues are decently written and delivered. Thr cinematography, undoubtedly is a major asset to the film. Besides, the Hindi dubbing is excellent as said before and the voice used for James fits him very well.STRAW DOGS is a well made action thriller which has plenty of intense moments, making it a worthy watch.

Have you seen it? No? There is likely a very good reason for that...it stinks.Like nearly ALL the endless remakes and reboots that have been plaguing movie goers for the past decade or so....all this is, is a heartless version of the original. It has no heart. It has no soul.It is a retelling of a film that we all love and cherish...and it adds nothing to the story. It improves nothing but the special effects--which held up very well over time--and in some cases belittles the fans of the original...particularly in the fact that they remade the movie at all, without adding anything clever to it.Like so many other remakes it is a hallow shell of the original.

L.A. screenwriter David Sumner relocates with his wife to her hometown in the deep South. There, while tensions build between them, a brewing conflict with locals becomes a threat to them both. Straw Dogs is your typical remake from Hollywood with great actors portraying roles that someone else did decades ago and although it's not a bad remake it still wasn't needed and it has some big plot holes for example his wife got raped and she didn't say anything to the police or her husband? Why? I don't know honestly then when he kills Charlie she is shocked but some minutes ago she murdered with a shotgun the 2nd guy who raped her because i'm pretty sure Charlie raped her too it's just that the scene was weird she kissed him, she pushed and she could easily escape from him when he took her underwear off why didn't she do it? Anyways as far as acting goes everyone was fine although Dominic Purcell was the best i was surprised to see Willa Holland in a role you know Thea Queen from Arrow? Anyways the remake of Straw Dogs is not exactly awful but it could be better.

There are remakes and there are remakes. Granted, right now in Hollywood, you can't step on a celebrity star without tripping over a remake, but, sometimes they can work. Sometimes. If a film was made a while back that had a decent idea, but, for whatever reason, couldn't be truly realised, then why not give it a modern day makeover? Then you have the other kind of remakes.Straw Dogs is a remake of an ultra violent seventies movie about a man and woman who move into a new home in Cornwall, only to run into trouble with the locals. In the remake, the action has been moved to America, but the plot is basically the same.If you know what to expect then you're waiting for the violence to finally kick off. It does, eventually, but not before well over an hour of 'build up.' This build up shows us how the young, nice, happy couple completely ignore all warning signs that they have a town full of redneck psychos all around them until it's too late and the afford-mentioned psychos are throwing bricks through their window and trying to lynch them. The originally Straw Dogs was only famous (or rather infamous) for its violence. Since then, we've seen far worse gore and brutality on screen and remaking it (quite faithfully to be fair) seems a little pointless. There isn't enough gore to keep the 'gore-fiends' happy. It's too slow to be classed as a psychological thriller. And the characters are too stupid to know what's coming until it's too late.I think, if this was the first incarnation of Straw Dogs, it might be called a 'home invasion' film. However, the fact that there are other films out there which have already secured that particular niche genre, makes this one even less original. Funny Games, The Strangers, that British one that I watched and completely forgot its name - all of those have beaten the Straw Dogs remake to the punch, However, if you're a fan of Kate Bosworth and like the idea of watching her running around in not very many clothes for the whole film, then you might get something out of it.
