Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

Having used a 'Kevin clone' in Home Alone 3, this belated fourth instalment returns to having Kevin as the central focus, this time played by another actor. They also bring back the vast majority of his family, and Marv too, again all played by different actors. It sets the tone for the whole film really. It's Home Alone by numbers, with all the ingredients being there, but it not quite having the magic of the original, probably because we've seen it all done so much better before. The replacements aren't bad, they're game for all the slapstick antics that they're given, but tis is a pale imitation for the original. At least it's got its tongue firmly in cheek though, with a few little jokes about the ridiculousness of the situation, Kevin's age changing, and the best one from the Mum "how many times can I lose this kid".Decent enough, but watch the original.

My 9 year old sister stopped the DVD half way through and refused to watch any more because she thought it was that terrible. The filming isn't great and the continuity is terrible. Using original names but having different ages and actors really doesn't work. The whole film is cringe worthy and the acting isn't very real. I don't like giving negative reviews but this film really isn't worth watching.

Why they continued making the Home Alone movies after 1 & 2 I will never know.Home Alone 1 & 2, although pretty predictable were quite hilarious in their way but 3 had me reaching for my whisky bottle and 4 reaching for the whisky bottle and my bottle of 100 sleeping pills because it was that bad.Malcolm Mcdowell is a very accomplished actor but why on earth he signed up to make this pathetic excuse for a movie completely befuddles me.The storyline was the same as all the other Home Alone movies but the script was totally non-existent. The same can be said about the direction and the acting.I must say I have seen worse movies than this but they are extremely few and far between. The movie is centred around Christmas but is certainly did not get me into the Christmas spirit (except the whisky of course) (Lol).

Home Alone 4 is a TV movie that brings back the characters of the original film particularly Kevin McCallister but played by a different cast.A Macaulay Culkin sound-alike Mike Weinberg takes on the role of Kevin together with French Stewart,Missi Pyle,Jason Beghe,Erick Avari,Barbara Babcock,Joanna Going and Clare Carey. The plot of the film revolves around Kevin trying to defend his future stepmother's computerized house against one of his old nemesis,Marv and his wife Vera.Combining his technological know-how and brilliance,Kevin was able to save a royal heir from a group of kidnappers that includes Marv.In addition to that,he was also able to bring back his parents back together. This is the third film of the Home Alone series. It is rather unfortunate that at this point of the franchise,I feel that the writers are just repeating the same thematic formulas that worked in the original film.Apart from the recycled gags,it no longer has the charm of the original. At this point,I think that the viewers are probably tired and would like to see something new if they ever would like to make another sequel. If not, then it is time to end the franchise with respect to the first film.
