At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Our family LOVES this movie. We can watch it over and over again. My husband laughs as hard each time as he did the first time. We bought the French original version but have yet to watch it. Our kids (millennials) love the line "I like every kind of dog"

Jean Reno is one of favorite actors ever since seeing him in THE PROFESSIONAL. I have him on autorecord to find movies that come up starring him and just watched JUST VISITING it was was made, creative, imaginative, great casting and had me laughing. Too bad I just heard about this now. I didn't think Christina Applegate would be good with Reno but she was outstanding also along with Reno's Andre played by Christian Clavier who is his servant who falls in love with Tara Reid and some other interesting characters give the movie great substance. Also the location of Chicago and some of the zany scenes of them eating out reminded me of BLUES BROTHERS..... Enjoy

This film is about a medieval royalty and his servant who got accidentally transported to the 21st century, causing hilarious cultural shocks.Though "Just Visiting" appears silly and cheesy, it does have the merit of being insightful to the contrast between modern day life and medieval life. The technology that we now take for granted simply does not exist just a century ago, let alone eight centuries ago. The cultural shocks are indeed hilarious, and provides squeaky clean laughs for the whole family. I truly enjoy watching "Just Visiting". I will be recommending my friends to watch this!

Many of the comments here are the usual gripes about remakes. Well, I've never seen "Les Visiteurs" so I'm just looking at this film on its own, and I must say that I was greatly entertained.Of course, it's a lightweight plot, but Reno and Clavier sink their teeth into the time-travel jokes and manage to be endearing as well as thoroughly crazy. (Especially Clavier, whose scenes among the rich folks reminded me a lot of the Three Stooges' many dinners with the snobs.) Christina Applegate is sincere and appealing, her boyfriend and his bimbo are appalling, and the Chicago scenery is GREAT! (I have to admit my prejudice in that regard, having lived there for many years.) Considering that the remake was done by the men who made the original film, what's the problem? Think of what it would have been like if it starred Adam Sandler and David Spade, for instance. Zut alors!
