Highly Overrated But Still Good

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

I must admit sometimes I like the found footage genre and sometimes I don't, this movie doesn't try to bullshit you with "this was found in the woods blah blah blah" but all the same, it obviously is and has a style about it similar to Blair Witch. Its about looking for Bigfoot and the movie starts slowly, and builds up throughout the movie to a final 20 or so minutes that were shot in one continuous shot (I think) - the acting is pretty good, the directing, the storyline, the filming & sound are all pretty first rate actually. Its well worth watching and I found the last twenty minutes pretty riveting and bought into the two main characters terror - Kelly's terror was especially good.

*** Lots of Spoilers ** Just watched this movie, but I was listening to it mostly. First of all this film was written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. That alone should caution viewers on what is to be expected. The first half of the film is basically Kelly and Jim planning and making the long drive to Willow Creek. Why anyone in their right mind would want to go to a place where BigFoot was seen and stay overnight is beyond me. Then for another 15 mins they are hiking throughout the woods hoping to get a glimpse at the beast and capture him on film. Jim is trying to prove that Bigfoot does exist. They eventually get lost. All of this including the dialogue is boring and tiresome. After finding a sock in a tree and taking a dip in a stream the couple pitches a tent. For 20 mins of one shot you see Jim and Kelly sitting in the tent, clinging to each other as creepy and loud sounds happen outside. Then the tent gets hit and the couple gets even more scared. All this buildup and suspense pretty much leads to nothing. They end up running into a comatose large naked women in a loin cloth, just standing in the woods. This just happens to be the missing women (Mary Anne Duende) that was pictured on the wall. Apparently this Bigfoot beast needed a mate. For the rest of the ended you just see the camera bouncing around and hear Jim being dragged away screaming with camera in tow. You don't see Kelly or Jim's death. You don't even see Bigfoot or any beasts. You do see a large footprint earlier. Very disappointing. Sure there is some suspense, but the payoff at the end is terrible. You'd be better of just forwarding the film to the end, cause it's that bad. The trailer pretty much shows the whole film. I gave this crappy film a 2 out of 10.

Spoiler Alert if you can call it that !!I saw it was coming up on the idiot box so hit the record on the DVR. I hoped it was one of those movies that drags on forever then gets really good near the end,but this wasn't the case.Unless sheer boredom is your thing, let me boil this waste of screen down for you.Boyfriend and girlfriend drive to where the fake Bigfoot footage was shot.Stop and eat at burger joint, then drive into sticks to be confronted by some redneck looking yutz that won't let them drive down dirt road to spot.Boyfriend knows other road that goes partway there.Park and walk,Set up camp.Boyfriend goes swimming.Come back to tore up camp.Look around and get scared by a raccoon Wake up that night to noises and a whap on the tent. .Huddle scared til dawn. Try to walk out and get lost.Huddle scared in woods.Walk more and huddle scared in what looks like cave.Try to head out at night like they wouldn't get lost even more than when they tried in the daytime. More noises and flash of fat half naked woman.Attacked and beat the crap out of by what I assume is a Bigfoot since you never see the creature the entire movie.Boyfriend dragged away short distance and you hear his girlfriend yelling for help.End of movie. The description above is 10 times more exciting and entertaining than staring at this drivel for the better part of two hours. Go watch your dog scratch or soap bubbles pop while soaking dishes in the sink for a much better time.

If I could've rated this with zero stars I would've. Who played the girlfriend role, she was awful. The movie had no plot and was quite frankly just boring. IMDb probably paid for those other "good" reviews. The best actor in the whole movie was the hillbillie. The starting female actress should never act again, I still can't get over how horrendous of an actress she was. The starring male role isn't able to show emotion or anything. They both should get lost in those woods where they filmed this movie. Don't WASTE YOUR TIME !!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE MOVIE. It isn't scary and I'm pretty sure my 8 year old daughter and her 3rd grade friends can make a scarier movie. I made an account just to leave this review. I feel like since they wasted my time I might as well.
