I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
The Man with the Iron Fists is a movie starring Russell Crowe, Cung Le, and Lucy Liu. On the hunt for a fabled treasure of gold, a band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon a village in feudal China, where a humble blacksmith looks to defend himself and his fellow villagers. The most suprising thing of all from this film must have been seeing Dave Bautista turning into a golden "cousin of Colossus" plus Russell Crowe was pretty good and RZA as well and it's to bad that the sequel that they made a few years later called The Man with the Iron Fists 2 was so laughably bad and over the top because even tho this one is kind of silly it's actually alot of fun.
Russel Crowe was obviously included in this rubbish movie to give some prestige. He should be ashamed of himself as he surely does not need the money! Lucy Liu whom I adore is also misplaced here she is worthy of better. Mercifully she makes only short appearances However to the film it is one of the worst action films I have ever seen in the Chinese martial arts genre. I have watched quite a few and the old ones were very good. and far better than this. The idea of the maimed blacksmith acquiring working hands in the 19th century is also ludicrous.
This movie had the potential to be good...Like the violence but it was lacking something. Got to start somewhere...Let this be a learning curve...
This movie is very far fetched, and anachronistic in clarity. It does get better as time progress but at some point near the end you will be relieved when it is finally over. There is sex and profanity but that seems to be dull compared to all of the cartoonish gore. The plot and writing style and the sprinkle of celebrity appearances will probably keep you hanging on for as long as you can bear. There is a point in the movie that I consider a shift and a surprising element you might find that to be of some entertainment. the action goes from worse to extraordinary at some points so I again encourage you to hang out for those parts. This film is bound to at least give you a chuckle at the beginning.
