At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Despite finding him good value on chat/panel shows,I have never had a "propah" Danny Dyer experience, due to almost all of his films looking.."dire." With October coming up,I decided to do a thread on IMDb's Horror board for Comedy Horror recs.Catching me by surprise,a fellow IMDber told me that they had seen a Dyer Horror Comedy that was actually good! Finding the movie at a local DVD shop for £1,I got set to go to Danny Dyer's doghouse. The plot:Wanting to escape their women troubles, mates Vince,Neil,Mikey,Graham,Patrick and Banksy decide to run off on a "lads weekend" to a village packed with pubs, and where women outnumber the men 4:1. Hiring a mini van,the guys travel to the town. Running to the pubs, the guys are shocked to find no staff behind the pub,and no girls in sight. Looking round the empty village, the guys find all the men laying on the floors dead. As they start to fear that their night out plans are over,a women appears, who turns out to be a murdering, man eating zombie.View on the film:Going for a night out with the lads to zombie town, the screenplay by Dan Schaffer makes the dialogue a perfect fit for the blokes, with their blue coloured humour capturing the banter of the guys, even as they are trying to outrun killer zombies. Travelling to the village in a jolly mood,Schaffer turns the jokes down to give the title an unexpected dark Horror side, spilling from some of the main characters meeting their dogs dinner,as Schaffer gradually builds the bond between the friends, with the zom-women getting their hands on the immaturity of the boys.Taking on any man or zombie that challenges him ,Stephen Graham gives the movie a working class grit as Vince,as Graham smoothly hits Comedy pot-shots with Noel Clarke's wonderfully nervous Mikey, whilst making sure Vince hits the zombies with a ruthless punch for survival. Unknowingly going on the pull for a zombie girl,Danny Dyer gives a far better than ever expected performance (nice one guv!) as Neil, thanks to Dyer getting Neil to show concern for his pals, and also waking up Neil with wide-eyed fear,as the lads start to fear that they are going to meet their end in the doghouse.

The closest thing to Shaun of the Dead since, well, Shaun of the Dead. While looking for Horror movies for Halloween 2012, I came across the trailer for this movie. Between the lower IMDb rating and the fact I've never heard of the movie (though I'm well versed in movies) I didn't think too much about including this one. In the end the movie made the cut as our Horror comedy of the night. Boy am I glad it did. After 2011's Tucker and Dale vs. Evil as our Horror Comedy on Halloween Movie night, I was rather disappointed that this low rated British film I hadn't heard of was the best thing we could come up with for a comedy horror. This movie was a pleasant surprise and great find. I found this movie just as good (or nearly as good) as my personal favorites mentioned above in Shaun of the Dead and Tucker and Dale vs Evil. If you're fans of those movies this should be right up your alley. It's sad this didn't get a wider release in the states or at least that any buzz it might have had didn't reach me. The make-up effects are rather cheesy but if you go with the flow it just works! I absolutely love the comical concept and the video game style women!7 of 10 and one of the best in it's Genre!

Done much in the line as "Shaun of the Dead" this 2009 very "camp" British horror film just barely misses the boat between grotesque horror film and funny horror satire.Seven mates bound and determined to lift the spirits of their main man Vince, who is currently going thru a divorce. Decide to have an all man's weekend out and about, away from the hustle and bustle of London. Mikey's Nan is away on a cruise for the weekend, so they charter a bus to take this motley crew of hen-peck husbands and social degenerates to the hillside village of Moodley. Unbeknownst to our wandering stag party, due to its remote location, the small town of Moodley has been selected by the military, to undergo some biological warfare testing, which has turned the female populace into flesh-eating zombies.I have to admit that the film is not all bad, and that the opening credits, which introduce us to, this cast of misfits is quite enjoyable. However, there were some things that just didn't click with this film. First, the film is very low budget, which usually isn't a problem; however, the town of Moodley looked really, really small (like seven store fronts, if that). When the initial hoard of "zombie women" attack, there is only like seven of them versus our seven main characters. So instead of our cast of he-men fighting this lowly band of evil dead, they opt to hide out and end up getting picked off one by one. Second, Nan's house seemed to be a haven in which our cast of manly men were safe and the zombie hoard reverted back from; however, when the guys decide to flee this refuge in an attempt to find transportation out of town, they never returned to their fortress of solitude. And finally, what was the deal with Meg Nut, the Mayor of Moodley? I definitely did not understand her role in this film, or her role in the plight of her town.Again, the film is played for comedy-horror satire, but it just doesn't quite hit the mark. If you are a fan of "Shaun of the Dead", then you just may enjoy this as well; however, this film is definitely not as good or as funny as "Shaun". I am on the fence with this one, so a half-hearted, lukewarm recommendation; there are definitely far worse things to watch out there. Definitely not for everyone; however, if you are into this genre of film, then by all means take a chance and rent it for a $1.00, or catch it on cable. The story of the film was a little strange and they really could of gone with a better ending, but that is not what makes this film fun. Imagine a village full of beautiful woman; zombies. Then a group of guys come in and kill them. The idea was pretty funny. That kind of makes the film more in the comedy field than horror. The cast was great. Danny Dyer was really funny with his remarks. Then you have Stephen Graham who is always entertaining when he goes into action star mode. Now the female zombies were interesting but not that scary. Well there was one zombie would was about 400 pounds who was actually pretty scary. Some do become a little scarier later in the film. But like I said, the only thing that seemed to mess up this film was the story line. Parts were pretty bad, but the film made up with some of the fun.
