Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

Hmmmm... The film intrigues and presents (in the first 10 minutes) as a feel good movie that explores one mans struggle with the bottle and the reigniting of his passion. However, it has reconfirmed the idea that struggling writers can only write about.... ...other struggling writers 🙄. There's a lack of depth in the "soul-searching" storytelling that has undertones of love and is smeared in alcoholism. This film is written with flimsy and unrealistic interaction between characters and seeks to over compensate with an overbearing use of poetic linguistics. And what can one do when alphabet soup provides a better read than an "unimaginative" script? Find someone who can read you the phone book and make it sound beautiful; enter Morgan Freeman. The actors seem uptight as I think they knew what I know now- and that is this movie is a waste of time. 2 stars.

The story is well written and the actors are great. Thank you. I've watched it 3 or 4 times now and still enjoy every minute of it. It speaks again of being family even with strangers who come into your life and bring you joy but not on the initial meeting. You can never judge a book by its cover is so true in this situation. How many times have you met someone in passing and have remained friends for years? We can all relate to that I think. Morgan does an outstanding performance as being a bitter man after his wife's passing and does a great job of turning the page on his life with a little help from his nephew who keeps pushing him in a subtle way to get over it.

I cannot believe Virginia Madsen and Morgan Freeman agreed to be associated with this film. It is poorly written, poorly directed and with the exception of the two actors mentioned above, poorly acted. Essentially it is four cliché stories that have been done before, meshed into one big, cheesy mess. There are some unbearable scenes that were obviously crafted by the writer who couldn't find a transition between stories. There is a character who is mentally challenged and the actor who played the role did such a poor job, I actually thought he was joking for a few minutes. The story is so predictable, I could actually finish much of the dialogue. On the positive side, the cinematography is pretty good and the scenery is nice to look at.

There seldom comes a film that you can call a masterpiece, yet The Magic of Bell Isle is just that. Its simplicity is what endures throughout the film, especially at a time when most films have computer generated imagery. Far to many films these days never take you away into a simplistic world, yet this one did and that is why i called The Magic of Belle Isle a masterpiece. The acting especially from both Virginia Madsen and Morgan Freeman is second to none, i wont give anything away as i think the audience should experience the film as it is intended. But i will say this The Magic of Bell Isle will be always be in one of my all time top 5 its that good.
