It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

I found out i can't write reviews without doing spoilers...what a wonderful movie...i think i ought qualify my viewing and writing of this took place while stoned... i think 'masterpiece' is an good word to describe it...why was i thinking 'a woman wrote this...no guy could write this good to where he could 'throw himself' into 2 female characters and super strong lead...i think i could point to exaggerated acting for a split second, just maybe....OH, for the first 5 minutes of the film i was determined not to like it and i was sad that i wouldn't like it...why?...'Pulp Fiction'...show started exactly like Pulp Fiction except it was 2 woman talking silly dialogue on the way to an apt. room to kill.... HOWEVER, from that moment on i was hooked...brilliant writing, acting, directing...again, qualify with i'm stoned'...i think i'd like it straight or crooked...i love 'drama'....i'm getting to where i hate hearing 'f--k' this and that and computer shows...the bubble gum in unison with the gun...the show never dulled or slowed down...there was a fast segment at end but missed the meaning...i found myself thinking these girls are spoiled brats in real life...then, thought 'those partaking in a show like this are great in my book'...this thing could be made in a TV production class...but, not this good!...i think 'Sex Lies Video Tape'...the less 'music' the better...this flick mind blowing beautiful music or sounds...super sparingly and uniquely right on...scenery perfect. I can't say enough good about this 'kudos' to all especially writer/director

What a poetic massacre drama! I love the absurd pitch - it is crazy. Love the girls motivated by getting a dress and the assassin crying behind the trash after an intimidating encounter. It's like a Japanese manga. This is so much fresher than a Tarantino, I like better this genre ! Tarantino takes himself way too seriously ! I regret though that the girls seem to not be enough professional, and that there was not more action. I really missed the action ! But the poetic sweet mood is very innovating, I'd like more of this please. Loved this line "What's with the cookies?! Wait, what if it's only the tip of the iceberg? What if he also makes brownies ???" Excellent !

'Violet and Daisy' tells the story of a pair of teenage assassins who get more than they bargained for on their latest job, namely someone who actually WANTS to be assassinated. Now, the first question you may ask if you hear that is WHY does the 'mark' want to be 'offed' by a pair of gin-totting adolescents. And it's a good question. However, despite the two girls staying with their man for most of the film, they don't seem to get round to asking him. Then, when you do finally find out (about three quarters of the way through the film) there isn't really anywhere else left to go.It starts off well enough. I found the opening kind of similar to Guy Ritchie's 'Snatch' as the two girls disguise themselves and chat happily on their way to their first 'job' of the day. However, despite all the nice talk, the dialogue isn't ever quite as snappy as a Guy Ritchie or Tarrantino film. All the performances are good and James Gandolfini deserves a special mention, as he does his character with a lot of pathos, helped no small part by the fact that, in the film, he wants to die and, not long after, he sadly got his wish in real life.Whereas the film could have explained, or possibly delved into how using teenagers (who are still just about young enough to be considered – sort of – innocent), it never really touches on the subject, choosing to string the story out as to why James Gandolfini wants to die for as long as possible. It's not a bad film, but it could have either done with being cut down by about half to make it tighter, or taken in a more focused direction. In the end it ends up as a sort of half-hearted homage to a Guy Ritchie/Tarrantino film that never really lives up to its potential.http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/

Violet and Daisy are contract killers. In the opening sequence they murder 6 people while dressed as nuns. Soon thereafter, Daisy turns 18, so she can get charged as an adult. Violet is a bit older, but probably not by much. They turn down a new job. Then they see some dresses that they want to buy. They take the job to get money to buy dresses. The second job is to kill one guy who stole some money from someone higher in their organisation. Their target shows up late, after they take a nap. They try shooting him with their eyes closed. He's in the kitchen making oatmeal cookies for them. Oh, my. He is dying anyway, and hopes they go ahead with their job. There is a lot of talk among Violet, Daisy, and their target. This is coupled with a number of odd incidents (like the shootout at the hardware store) that are interspersed with the ongoing conversation.Iris drops by to nudge the girls forward. Will the girls finally finish the job, stay out of jail, and go on with their shallow lives? -----Scores-----Cinematography: 10/10 Beautifully shot!Sound: 10/10 Amazingly good.Acting: 7/10 Alexis Bledel was 30 when this film came out. She's best friends with a girl who just turned 18? Oi. I like Gandalfini, Trejo, Bledel, and Jean-Baptiste even more than I did before seeing this film. I'm sure they did what the auteur asked of them, and they certainly did it well. Ronan, on the other hand, is an actor I can count on to deliver a disappointing performance.Screenplay: 5/10 Patty-cake? Really? Absurd and surreal set the stage. There was not enough story to fill the 88 minutes. The theoretical side of me saw that many of the lines were meant to be humorous, but I did not find myself laughing or even smiling.
