I love this movie so much
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
I was expecting a horror movie by the preview I read, but was pleasantly surprised that it was a survival tale. The whole cast of adventurers was very good, but Radcliffe blew me away with a range that floored me. I am not a Harry Potter fan, and didn't have much respect for him as an actor, but he changed my mind decisively with this effort. The bonus is that the movie is also asthetically gorgeous. Soaring mountain scapes shrouded in wifts of clouds, churning rapids, secluded jungles and beautiful shots of the native peoples of Bolivia pepper the movie at an almost frantic pace at times. It almost calls to the movie "Alive"'s spirit of brotherhood and desperate desire to survive. Bravo.
Jungle is a survival story starring Daniel Radcliffe who lost weight to show his characters emaciated state.Based on a true story, Radcliffe plays Israeli Yossi Ghinsberg who went trekking in the Bolivian jungle with three other friends in 1981. They hook up with an Austrian adventurer called Karl, who suggests to them a trip into the Amazon jungle to search for a lost Indian tribe and some gold.Soon after the foursome set off there is some bickering with Karl. Yossi and Kevin part from the other two. However with heavy rainfall their raft capsizes and Yossi gets lost in the rapids.Yossi needs to survive in the jungle and hopes that he gets rescued. He is battered, bruised, has to avoids snakes, other animals and has creepy crawlies in his body. He is constantly left in a hallucinatory state, as the days go on Yossi is clinging to his faith. This is Radcliffe's film, it is rather slow to get going and the other characters in the film are rather sketchy. By the end you can see Radcliffe has had a grim time.
I really enjoyed this film. Daniel Radcliffe did a great job as the lead character. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and wondered if I'd be thinking of him as Harry throughout the movie, but that was not the case. I was engaged in the character he was playing. The other actors in the movie did a great job as well. The plot moves along at a good pace. There are a few parts that drag here and there, but overall I was interested through the entire movie. I felt for the characters and really was rooting for them. After finishing the movie it led me to read more about the true story. I would say definitely give this movie a watch.
I've been lookign for a story. Tired of all the nonsense of the recent crap, filled with CGi and nothing else. Jungle gives you a story. Think about what you see, and this one becomes a masterpiece. Don't look for giant apes or crodiles, this one is all about a human soul and friendship against the mother nature. Simple and beautiful
