This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

From the director of Rocky and the original Karate Kid I expected to see a powerful film that is as triumphant as it is educational. The Power of One is neither of those things. It's a great story and I heard the book is great, but the execution is poor. I never really felt anything for these characters and it's decision to move forward years at a time was ineffective. We have seen films like this succeed on a high level. You have to balance doing the story justice while also creating a great movie experience. I never felt myself wanting to find out what happens next to any of these characters. I wanted it to be good but it just didn't turn out the way. The film has great performances. Stepehen Dorff is solid but a bit young for me to believe he actually has this much power and trust among people. And Morgan Freeman even in his 20 minute role was great. His accent didn't seem spot on to what the rest of the cast had and the pacing was just all over the place. I was checking the time multiple times throughout which is an obvious sign of a poor film.Hans Zimmer's score is underused but nonetheless effective. It's actually the only reason I found out about this film. So overall it was an underwhelming film with a few good elements.+Score +Lead performances -Pacing -Directing -Underdeveloped characters-Big moments didn't hit 5.5/10

This movie was one of the most incredible movies I have ever seen! My teacher had us watch it in 5th grade, and ever since then I have owned the movie and recommend it to everyone. And I still cry. It is a moving story about a boy with no one left to care for him except Doc, a German pianist who is put in jail for not registering with the South African government. P.K learns how to box from the prisoners in the jail and turns to boxing in a society that doesn't accept him. Throughout the movie P.K learns lessons about life in South Africa and loses many things. It is a great representation of the culture of the time. The cinematography was well done and make the movie even more Amazing! I would recommend this movie to anyone. It will make you cry and move you beyond words. It will change your view of WWII in Africa and Apartheid.

Its about a young English boy growing up in Africa during the time of World War 2 and when Hitler was in power. He helps the African men and women achieve equality and shows them how important an education is. It was an AMAZING movie. We started watching it in religion class and I had 2 go out and buy it because i couldn't wait another day 2 finish it. It gives a great message about helping others and racism and all of that. The Power of One is a brilliant movie. Brendan Deary(little PK) was awesome in it. He was so cute, his facial expressions and everything . Anyways, I highly recommend it. I just have put this movie on 1 of my top lists. It could possibly be my favorite movie now. Top notch movie.

I expected a lot from this film but it just did not live up to my expectations. I remember Morgan Freeman once said that he was disappointed with the final cut. He was expecting much more because the screenplay/script was very strong. N one here gets the blame except for the director. He has a classic script in his hand but he goofed up. The movie gets tiring and boring at many stages. One wishes that there were more screen time for Freeman who shows that the lenght of the role does not matter. He had a terrific role and put in an nomination worthy performance. Gil Piet was my favorite character in this film so it was hard for me to see him exit the movie so far. I just wished that the director could have focused more on PK's childhood, because when the movie covers his adult years it slows down. Overall, it has some powerful scenes with good performances. But if there was a better director on board the movie would have turned out to be a classic.
