Getaway (2013)

So much average

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

I don't understand why this movie has such a low rating. I've seen it a couple of times because I really like it. I think it's absolutely worth watching if you like this genre.

Yet another addition to the canon. If Hollywood is to be believed, then Central and Eastern Europe consists of 1) smoking hot women who are intent on marrying, or are married to, American males, 2) smoking hot women who are prostitutes, 3) gangsters, 4) little girls with flaxen braids who like to prepare homecooked bread and 5) people heavily invested in Christmas fairs or shopping.Representatives of all categories can be found within the borders of Central and Eastern Europe, but it's pretty lazy (and pretty racist) to suggest that they make up the whole of the population. Unpleasant assertions about inoffensive citizens aside : this is a remarkably undercooked VROAR VROAR VROOM vroom crash crash plot holes large enough to drive an elephant through CRASH bang bang VRRRROAR. Vroom wish fulfilment ROAR ROOR RRRRomm vroom boing boingggg for adolescent males who like primary colors and explosions rhha rhaaaa rhhhaaaa a solid wall of noise VROOM vromm VROOM VROOM. It's an ode to reckless driving, road rage and speed crassssssssh crasssh crrrash CRASH, thinly disguised as ROAR RRROAR roar car crashes galore VROOM a lot of waste VROOM BOING BOINGGGG vroom vroom vroommm textbook conspicious consumption. VRRROOM vroom vroom VROAR ding ding dingeling BADOING BADOING to the point where you can't hear yourself think. That's precisely why they do it.

She is just not a very good actor. Its not a very good script. Nice car, Ethan is pretty awesome he carries everyone else. It is like Bourne Identity without and suspension if disbelieving and script and acting and camera work. Well there's a couple good scenes, but Gomez ruins them with her horrid acting. Like the car windows, never a scratch, never get dirty, even after 1000 bullets and an RPG are fired at the car. OK, I guess everywhere in whatever city they are in is flat, they drive everywhere through buildings and right through all sorts of stuff it just makes no sense its a Shelby not a tank. So instead of wasting your time watching this start a petition banning Gomez from acting.

I saw this movie at Regal Cinemas at Kingston with my friend and father and unlike many other people, I thought it was great including the acting from Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez. This movie has one of Gomez' underrated roles while her role from Hotel Transylvania as overrated. For example, Selena Gomez' character from Getaway says "Holy s" rather than "Holy rabies." The movie would have been better with a different director like James Cameron or Martin Scorsese. The dialog was well written but the action scenes were not well written. I think that people should watch Getaway more than once to understand what I'm saying. It may seem weird at first, but it actually is hardcore.
